Even More 'Audacity' from Obama

The fact that the left is becoming frustrated with the lack of unity among Senate Democrats when it comes to passing health care is obvious from the events in the last couple of weeks. Various concessions have been made in an effort to bring enough Democrat Senators on-board in order to reach the magic number of 60 votes, all to very little avail. The latest effort, the Reed compromise, not withstanding.

So it comes as no surprise that the left, given who, and more to the point, what they are, have turned to more coercive tactics to strong arm the holdouts. Senator Joe Lieberman, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, made himself a visible target very early on when he pledged that he would not vote for a health care bill which contained any semblance of a public option. Lieberman has been playing the political game with the big boys for a very long time and since he was a Democrat, was surely aware of the type of attacks which would be leveled at him. And until recently, the attacks he has endured have been of the typical nature. Now, some on the left have begun to take the attacks into vulgar and unethical territories, calling into question Lieberman's fidelity to his Jewish heritage and taking aim at his wife. Neither of which surprised me very much, as they are both very good examples of the left being true to what they are, 'rat bastards'.

Despite all of the audacity, treachery, and deceit from this White House in the last eleven months, I can still be surprised, however, by the depths to which Obama will stoop to advance his agenda. Like this from the Weekly Standard.

"While the Democrats appease Senator Lieberman, they still have to worry about other recalcitrant Democrats including Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. Though Lieberman has been out front in the fight against the public option and the Medicare buy-in, Nelson was critical of both. Now that those provisions appear to have been stripped from the bill, Lieberman may get on board, but Nelson's demand that taxpayer money not be used to fund abortion has still not been met. According to a Senate aide, the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base on the BRAC list if Nelson doesn't fall into line."
"Offutt Air Force Base employs some 10,000 military and federal employees in Southeastern Nebraska. As our source put it, this is a 'naked effort by Rahm Emanuel and the White House to extort Nelson's vote.' They are 'threatening to close a base vital to national security for what?' asked the Senate staffer."
"Indeed, Offutt is the headquarters for US Strategic Command, the successor to Strategic Air Command, and not by accident. STRATCOM was located in the middle of the country for strategic reasons. Its closure would be a massive blow to the economy of the state of Nebraska, but it would also be another example of this administration playing politics with our national security."

Playing politics with our strategic national security goes way beyond the typical parameters of dirty political tricks which have become a familiar feature of American politics, it is nothing less than treason.

A Letter to the President

Harold B. Estes, Master Chief Boatswain's Mate, USN (Ret.) proudly served his country during WWII in the south Pacific, and continued to serve after the war was over, a total of 23 years. He is a past president, chaplain, and National Director Emeritus of the Navy League of the United States, Honolulu Council. The BMC Harold Estes Leadership Award is named after him. As Sean Hannity would say, he is "a great American".

Chief Estes recently wrote an open letter to President Obama. While many active duty members of the military, when asked for an opinion of President Obama's performance as 'Commander-in-Chief', might simply say, "He's my Commander-in-Chief", and leave it at that. But, since Chief Estes is retired, he loaded all guns and let Obama have it.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
" We're no longer a Christian nation"
" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even announced to the world,"America is mean-spirited. Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Shocker: Sparkman Killed Himself

Almost from the moment that the body of census worker, Bill Sparkman was found back in mid September, the left had pointed the bony finger of indignation directly at the right. Sparkman had been found in rural Kentucky, hanged from a tree, hands bound with 'duct tape', with the word "fed" scrawled on his chest. The left was predictably quick to jump to the conclusion that extreme rhetoric from right wing political commentators was at the root of the motivations of the killer or killers.

On Sept. 24th, a Democratic Underground blogger, zulchzulu, published a piece entitled, Handy Guide to how Republicans and Fox News are responsible for Census worker being hanged.

"We need to absolutely expose Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann, Michelle Malkin, CNN's Lou Dobbs, Michael Steele, Rush Limbaugh and the legion of others parroting right-wing lies for trumping up this nonsense and getting people to now commit murder in a hideous fashion."

It now appears that the American left, ostensibly the smartest people in the room, believed exactly what Sparkman wanted them to believe. After a two month investigation, police officials have concluded that Sparkman killed himself. Sparkman needed his death to look like murder and was relying upon the left's predictable pattern of 'rushing to judgement' for political gain to help him sell the deception.

The left could have been spared this embarrassment if only Janet Napolitano had done her due diligence as the Homeland Security Czar and seized control of this investigation. She could have recruited Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to oversee the investigation in order to ensure the desired outcome. After all, if these people can make the 350 years of global warming known as the 'Medieval Warm Period', and sell that scientific fraud to the world. Surely, they could have handled covering up a little thing like a suicide.

Pray for Obama, Psalms 109:8

The left is going nuts over a T-shirt that reads; "Pray for Obama, Psalms 109:8." So what's the problem? When you look up the passage, the full import of the message becomes clear;....or maybe not. It depends upon whether the reader is a Democrat, or a Republican.

Jason Linkins at the Huffington Post writes of the shirt;

"And Psalm 109:8 is just straight up memetastic, appearing on bumper stickers and T-shirts, all of which carry the benign sounding message, 'Pray For Obama.' But, as Gawker's John Cook points out, this is just one more in a 'long line of cheekily coded Obama death threats.' The verse in question reads: 'May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.' That leads fairly naturally into the Psalm 109:9, 'May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.' You know, in case you miss the point."

He goes on to quote fellow 'huffer' Frank Schaeffer, who seems to views the shirt as a reflection of every sinister right wing thought imaginable.

"It's un-American. It's unpatriotic. And it goes to show that the religious right, the Republican far right have coalesced into a group who truly want American revolution. If it turns out to be blood in the streets and death, so be it. It's not funny stuff anymore. They cannot be dismissed as just crazies on the fringe. It only takes one. You know, look at the Boston Globe article from a few weeks ago that says the threat level faced by the Secret Service has gone up 400%, higher than any other time in 52 years, for any president, Democrat or Republican. These are no jokes."

At least Schaeffer is right about one thing, there are plenty of us, myself included, who want this government reigned back within it's Constitutional parameters, and believe that the only way that is going to realistically happen is with another American revolution.

All of this paranoid hoopla was started by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

The fact of the matter is that, taken at face value, the shirt is no more sinister than the numerous Bush countdown clocks that graced the pages of various left wing blogs during the Bush administration. Only verse 8 of Psalms 109 is referenced, not verse 9. It is only the desire of the left to demonize the right which compels them to make more of it than it is. What is really interesting is that the left is never at a loss to accuse the right of that which the left is very often clearly guilty. Take for example this shirt.

The shirt reads: "For Gods Sake ....KILL BUSH. Save the United States and the Rest of the World."

Or, how about a good old fashioned 'wanted poster'.

The left has been quick to point out the threating messages displayed on posters and signs carried by 'tea party' goers. They of course, are choosing to engage in their own particular from of partisan selective memory, as the following images clearly attest.

The next image is what appears to be a sheet of postage stamps featuring President Bush with a gun pointed at his head, and was displayed in an art gallery exhibit at Columbia College in Chicago.

The Bible is a wealth of sound council for every need of the human condition, including, determining which way to lean politically.

Barack, You Ignorant [Bleep]

President Obama finally broke his boycott of FNC by sitting down for an interview with Fox's Major Garrett while in Bejing, China. During the interview, which aired at 6 pm today on "Special Report with Bret Baier", the President proved once again that he is completely ignorant on economic matters.

"...if we keep on adding to the debt, even in the midst of a recovery, that at some point, (d)uh, people could lose confidence in the US economy in a way that can actually lead to a double dip recession."

The amount of ignorance contained in this statement is stunning. If we keep adding to the debt?
What does he mean by 'if'? The Congress has done nothing during his administration but add to the debt, with plans to add more. There is no 'if' about it. Right now, the national debt now stands at $12 trillion, that's, $12,000,000,000,000; or twelve, thousand, thousand, million dollars. That figure represents 96% of our current GDP. The interest on that debt alone is $338 billion annually. Currently, the government is spending nearly twice what it is confiscating from it's citizens in tax revenue. The national debt is projected to rise to at least $16.2 trillion by 2012. But, that is not the worst of it! America's unfunded liabilities, that is the amount of money we have committed ourselves to spending with no idea of how we will get the money, is $106 trillion. The actual liability per citizen now stands at $335,000.00! Check it for yourself here.

Obama mentions the recovery. What recovery? A jobless recovery, is no recovery! The administration insists that it has saved or created 'X' number of jobs, (I say 'X', because the numbers are different depending upon the source in the administration), and the stimulus is creating jobs; but most of the permanent ones are being created in China! Of the US jobs that stimulus has created, 93% of them are government jobs, the greater portion of which will disappear as soon as the money dries up.

America has more than 200 hundred years of history, that includes economic history. We have watched as tax and spend policies have effected the economy. One does not have to have a masters degree in economics, it is an matter of simple observation. When taxes are high, the economy lags and the jobless rate is high. When the taxes are low, the economy roars and the jobless rate is low. Every time that the government has reduced taxes in an effort to improve the economic situation it has worked spectacularly. But, the Obama administration has increased taxes on the 'movers and shakers' of our economy, with plans to increase taxes on the rest of us by letting the Bush tax cuts expire. The Obama administration is doing what FDR did during the depression, and there is every reason to believe that those efforts contributed to the depression lasting far longer than it would have had the government done nothing.

This administration has done everything that it should not have done, and nothing that it should have. If the American people have any confidence in this economy, it will be short lived. If the American people had any confidence in Obama, it is rapidly disappearing.

A Long Train of Abuses and Usurpations

On the heels of the House passage of the health care bill on November 7, 2009, a date which will live in infamy, Harry Reid, Senate majority leader, has filed a motion to introduce the House bill today. The health care bill passed the House with only one Republican vote, so when Speaker Pelosi announced it's passage to a chorus of cheers, Democrats were in essence, cheering themselves. For what? For their stupidity, or their nerve?

The President, as well as other Democrats, have admitted that the Democrats have been trying to force this particular form tyranny upon the American people for decades. Heretofore, the freedom loving among us have had sufficient representation in the government in order to prevent it. No more. This bill passed despite the 176 Republicans and 39 Democrats that had the presence of mind to vote against it. But the American people recognized very early that our republic was in jeopardy, the tea parties and town hall confrontations being the most visable representation of the alarm felt by many. What is happening now has never happened in the lifetime of any living today. The tea party movement dwarfs the anti-Vietnam war movement of the sixties and makes the 'Vast Right Wing Conspiracy' rhetoric of the Clinton years look like mere paranoia. One would be hard pressed to catalog the myriad of national, state, and local organizations associated with the tea party movement which have sprung up since Obama's election. This, plus the results of the November elections, should have given every Democrat in the House, each of whom is going to have to fight to keep his seat in 2010, reason to vote against the bill, yet only 39 did. So again I ask, did they pass it because they are morons, or did they pass it because of some hidden agenda or goal?

The Democrats admit that health care reform will not work. The fact that it will not work is self evident. Provide more, improve quality, and lower costs, all at the same time? It's not possible, especially with the government involved. Add to that the fact that 45% of doctors say that they will consider leaving the profession if health care reform becomes law, and you have the makings of a health care crisis which will far exceeding the current one. If only 25% of those doctors actually leave the profession, those doctors will be the ones who care. They will be the ones do not want the government telling them who they may treat, when they may treat them, and how they may treat them. The doctors who remain, will be those with the least concern for their patients. The flip side is that in the private sector, a persons worth, in terms of compensation, is determined by a number of factors, not the least of which is, the number persons available who are skilled in a particular profession. As there will be fewer doctors, the market value of the service performed by those doctors remaining will increase, along with the cost of health care. As there will be fewer doctors, and costs will dramatically increase as a result, health care rationing will be unavoidable.

Since Rahm Emanuel and former President Clinton agree that the goal of the health care reform is not necessarily to get it right, what is the goal? The same goal that these socialist statists have been striving for all along; power. Government programs are not so much about solving problems, which they never seem to do, as they are about exerting control. Political correctness and hate crimes legislation are not so much about protecting the vulnerable, as they are about crushing free speech through intimidation. Gun control is not so much about crime reduction, it actually has the opposite effect, as it is about disarming the people. Our founders never intended for our government to be the privilege granting, property confiscating, rights trampling, regulatory, tax and spend monstrosity that it has become. The statist have every intent to expand government power and control until Americans are nothing more than a society of serfs.

America is awakening from a long, ignorant slumber. We have made our objections known to our leaders and they have ignored us. We have gathered in great numbers in Washington to protest and they have mocked us. We have been here before. Two hundred and thirty three years ago fifty five brave souls pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor in signing the Declaration of Independence. One line from that document stands out as one upon which we should seriously reflect today; “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.” America finds itself today at exactly the same crossroad; will we choose liberty or will we choose tyranny?

Fort Hood Attack Meets the Definition of Terrorism

The FBI barely had their boots on the ground at Fort Hood when Fox News reporting that the FBI was saying that the attack was not terror related. At that time there was no confirmation of the number of fatalities and wounded, the identity of any of the perpetrators, or even the number of perpetrators. There was virtually no information at that time upon which to comprehensively determine a motive for the massacre, let alone rule out terrorism, and yet, it was being reported that it was not terror related.

As more information became available we found out that this attack was the work of one person, Major Malik Nidal Hasan, a Muslim. A man who joined the military prior to the September 11th terror attack and was very much opposed to the war on terror as a war against his fellow Muslims. Col. Terry Lee (retired), who had worked with Major Hasan, told Fox News that Major Hasan had made several troubling statements in the past that point toward a possible motivation. Col. Lee quoted Hasan as saying things like, "Muslims have the right to rise up against the US military", "The Muslims have a right to stand up against the aggressors", and "maybe we should have more of these where people strap bombs on themselves and go into Times Square."

At this moment, Lt. Gen. Robert Cone has just announced that Hasan, who previously been reported as having been killed at the scene, is in fact wounded and very much alive. Cone also said that he could not rule out terrorism as a motivation, but that he believes that the evidence does not suggest terrorism.

There seems to been a knee jerk effort to paint this attack as anything but terrorism. This is not surprising since we have a foreign policy 'woosie' as Commander in Chief. The last thing that the Obama administration needs is a horrific terrorist attack on a military base on US soil. At this moment, terrorism is exactly what it looks like. I have no doubt that an extreme effort is going to be made to define 'terrorism' in a way which would exclude this attack.

From the FBI's own website we found that the agency's own definition of terrorism is as follows:

There is no single, universally accepted definition of terrorism. Terrorism is defined in the Code of Federal Regulations as “...the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85)

If all that we know right now turns out to be accurate, this attack appears to meet that definition. Further, since Major Hasan is in fact alive, we may find out much more about his motives in the coming days which may make it much more difficult for this administration to avoid the truth.

UPDATE 11/6/09:

The jihidi, Major Hasan, yelled "ALLAH AKBAR", (God is Great) just before he began shooting. The death toll now stands at 13 dead, 38 wounded. Hasan is the son of Palestinian immigrants who grew up and went to high school in Roanoke, Virginia.

Muslim groups across the country are coming out with statements of condemnation for the attack, decrying the frequent mention of the fact that Hasan was a Muslim, and insisting that Islam is a religion of peace. Really!

"Kill non-Muslims wherever you find them. Lie in wait and ambush them, seize and capture them using every stratagem of war." - Koran 9:5
"Whether unarmed or well equipped, march on and fight for the cause of Allah, with your wealth and your persons." - Koran 9:41
"Are you waiting for anything to befall us except victory or martyrdom?" - Koran 9:51

Of course, the argument that Islam is a religion of peace would be much more believable if the adherents thereof would stop killing people in the name of Allah. But, not all Muslims in the US are condemning Hasan's actions, some are actually praising him.

Despite the mounting evidence that this was a jihadi attack, a terrorist attack, the MSM is feverishly laboring to portray Hasan as a victim of combat related 'post traumatic stress disorder' (PTSD) or, that he did this because he feared going to war. Both of these assertions are completely absurd. Hasan had never been deployed, but was to be deployed. The "post trauma' did not as yet exist as he had not yet been in actual combat, nor would he have been, since he is a psychologist, and would have been assigned to a rear area. The MSM will continue to avoid the obvious until the story grows cold, and is replaced by other news.

Party 'Brand' Loyalty vs Ideology

The subject of party loyalty was brought up before this election with respect to the upcoming special election in New York's 23 district. Sarah Palin, favoring ideology over party, came out in support of the Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman over the 'RINO' Dede Scozzafava on her facebook page. She was not alone. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R), Dick Armey and Fred Thompson had also broken with the Republican party to endorse Hoffman. In response to what appeared to some as party treason, Newt Gingrich offered a substantively weak argument in favor of supporting the party candidate no matter what.

“I just think it is a mistake for the conservative movement to think splitting in the special election is a smart idea,” Gingrich said. “If we give that seat to the Democrats, shame on us.”

This is the same old 'if we split the center right vote, the left wins' argument. Problem is, this attitude does not serve the conservative movement in all cases, and it certainly did not in this case. Scozzafava is not a conservative (she even endorsed the Democrat over the Conservative after she dropped out of the race), she should never have been chosen as the Republican candidate, and if she could have won the election, she would have done nothing to advance the conservative movement. Opposing her did more to advance conservatism in the Republican party than supporting her ever had any chance of doing. The polls prior to the election, as well as the actual election results bear this out. New York 23 is a Republican district in which Scozzafava, the Republican, was getting killed in the polls precisely because she was anything but a conservative. The final election results show that Hoffman, the third party candidate, lost the election by only 5 percentage points.

The lesson that the national Republican party should learn from New York 23 is that political ideology is more important that party 'brand' loyalty. The Republican party even ran ads against Hoffman, and dispite them, Hoffman still continued to climb in the polls. Hoffman may have lost the election, but he did much better than a third party candidate would have done under normal circumstances. If the GOP county chair in NY had actually chosen a conservative candidate instead of Scozzafava, who by the way, even received the unsolicited endorsement of the founder of the DailyKos, Democrat Bill Owens would have been conceding defeat last night. The fact of the matter is that it was Scozzafava, not Hoffman, who was the spoiler in New York 23.

The message to the GOP is reinforced by the election results in my own state of Virginia. Bob McDonnell ran a Reaganesque campaign. He ran as conservative. He ran on the conservative issues of primary concern to the voters. He ran a positive campaign. If you look at the election results map, it is easy to see how successful his campaign was. State wide, McDonnell won 59% of the vote, and in many counties, he got as much as 70% of the votes cast. Rather than spend time and effort on spinning the election results as a referendum against the Obama presidency, the GOP needs to understand it as a referendum in favor of conservative principles.

More Americans are conservative than moderate, or liberal, with 40% identifying themselves as conservatives, 36% as moderates, and 20% as liberals. The likely voters who self identify as Republicans is approximately 1/3 of the electorate, the same is true of those who self identify as Democrats. This leaves approximately 40% of the electorate who are independents. Winning elections have always been about attracting the votes of those independents. The Republican party needs to finally get the message that the way to attract a winning majority of the voters in the middle is by remaining loyal to conservative principles before, during, and after the election. If Republicans do this, party 'brand' loyalty will never be an issue.

Your Republic is Calling!

From now on, we all, every American, needs to come to the realization that every election is important. We must change our habits to accommodate a new mind set of being at the polls to vote every single time that they are open. No election is trivial. No race is too small. And remember, if you don't vote, you have no basis to complain. Make your voice heard, and make your opinion count.

The vast majority of America is center right. The left does not believe this. We have to prove it to them. If we wait until we no longer have the right to vote, it will be too late. Our republic is in peril, and it is up to those of us who value our freedoms and liberties to take a stand. Vote!

The photo at right is a close up of some peculiar 'tabs' and an odd American flag facsimile patch worn by an active duty member of the U.S. military serving in Mosul, Iraq. If you are unfamiliar with what these emblems refer, let me explain.

The 'three percent' tab and the flag patch identify him as a 'three percenter'. What is a 'three percenter'? During the American revolution, the active forces in the field fighting the tyranny of King George never amounted to more than three percent of the population of the colonies. Today, 'three percenters' are those who understand that America will lose the freedom won by the original three percent if we continue to allow the federal government to take our guns away from us.

Oath Keeper refers to an effort begun earlier this year, to remind active duty members of the military, veterans, of their oath to protect and defend the constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic, heavy emphasis on the word 'domestic'. Oath Keepers understand that their allegiance is to the Constitution, not the politicians; this includes the President. Oath Keepers members acknowledge that there are orders which they will not follow.

1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.
2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrant less searches of the American people
3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.
4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.
5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control."
9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.
10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

The Oath Keepers Mission Statement declares;

"If you, the American people, are forced to once again fight for your liberty in another American Revolution, you will not be alone. We will stand with you."

Oath Keepers founder, Stewart Rhodes, is a former member of Congressman Ron Paul's Washington, D.C., staff, as well as a graduate of the Yale School of Law and a former Army paratrooper disabled during a night jump. Rhodes began Oath Keepers on March 2, 2009 on Blogger. I became aware of them on March 14th. The efforts of Oath Keepers became phenomenally successful and by Oct. 20, they had officially moved to their new dot org site. Up until now, Oath Keepers had been fortunate to slip under the liberal radar, with the notable exception of the Marxist front group, Southern Poverty Law Center, which said that they were a "a particularly worrisome example of the Patriot revival." Now, the moonbats are sounding the alarm, (see here, and here) including Chris Matthews.

Oath Keepers membership numbers in the thousands. Now that the left is aware of them, and will unwittingly give them all the press that they deserve, look for their ranks to rapidly swell to the hundreds of thousands. The MSM is good for something after all.

Nobody enjoys being lied to. Unfortunately, it happens way to much these days. Back in 2002, a University of Massachusetts study found that 60 percent of people lied at least once during a 10-minute conversation and told an average of two to three lies. A 2001 study found that compulsive liars tell about 200 lies a day. While it is a disturbing trend that dealing with liars on a daily basis is becoming 'usual and customary', it has ever been the case in the arena of politics.

To achieve an unprecedented control over Americans, a la health care reform, the Democrats have pushed credibility to its limits. Democrats have lied from beginning to end in this debate. They have lied about the number of uninsured in America. They have lied about health insurance providers profits. They have lied about their intent to cover illegal aliens in their plan. They have lied about their intent to cover abortions in their plan. They have lied about the cost of health care reform. They have lied about our ability to keep our current plans. They have lied about health care rationing. They lied when they said health care reform would lower health care costs. Seems that the only thing Democrats have not lied about is that they want a government run health care plan, for us, but not for them. Congress will be insulating themselves from the government run plan they will be forcing upon the rest of us. They have been fairly dishonest about that as well, at least by omission.

Americans have not been decieved. A new Rasmussen poll shows that most Americans are not buying the hype.

If the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats passes, 57% of voters nationwide believe it will raise the cost of health care, and 53% believe the quality of care will get worse. That’s part of the reason that just 45% support the plan. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% are opposed to it. Those numbers include 23% who Strongly Favor the plan and 40% who are Strongly Opposed. Just 18% say passage of the congressional plan will reduce costs, while only 23% believe it will lead to better care.
Voters under 30 are most likely to support the health care proposal while those over 65 are the least supportive. Just 36% of senior citizens favor the plan while 58% are opposed. Those figures include just 19% of senior citizens who Strongly Favor the plan and 47% who are Strongly Opposed.

Stealth Tyranny

Obama promised transparency. He promised that piece of non-emergency legislation would be available for public review online for five days before he would sign it. To date, not one bill has been so displayed. On Jan. 21st, the administration released the following announcement:

"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.

Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. …"

The reality is that they have made no attempt what-so-ever to keep this promise. Obama signed his first bill, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, only two days after it was passed. Obama signed the S-Chip expansion bill only three hours after passage. Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus bill one day after passage. At this point, for one to give Obama any benefit of doubt with respect to his sincerity in making these promises, would betray the fact that one is a moron.

Right now, democrat leaders are laboring behind closed and locked doors to engineer a take over of one sixth of the U.S. economy.

How could anyone consider this acceptable? They would not be doing this in secret if they believed that the people would really approve of the end result. They are doing it in secret in order to avoid any public backlash which might cause some legislators to get cold feet. They intent to craft a bill, make sure that they have all the democrat votes they need to pass it, and ram it through before any of us even have a hint of what is in it.

Obama said, "Openness will strengthen our democracy..." That is a true statement, but then again, strengthening our democracy is obviously not he object of the exercise. The expansion of power is! Tyranny is! In a free society, tyranny cannot be easily imposed openly. It is done through deception, and if not through deception, then behind closed doors.

How the Left is Actually Helping the Right

One would have to be living in the wilderness for the last several months in order to be unaware of the war that the left is waging against certain conservatives. The White House has declared war on Fox News Channel. MSNBC continually goes after Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, and Coulter as if they were the 'axis of evil', as do the liberals throughout the blogosphere.

It seems that the more the left decries their enemies the more popular they become. Despite the efforts of the White House to paint Fox News as a primary source of disinformation, and something other than a legitimate news outlet, Fox's ratings continue to climb.

Fox News' Glenn Beck show, which only began airing on January 19th of this year, now draws more viewers than all three of the competing time slot shows on CNN, MSNBC, and HLN.

While negative press typically has a correspondingly negative effect on popularity, that is not always the case. There are many instances in which negative publicity can have a positive effect on popularity. Many times negative publicity, such as a musician who has gotten into trouble with the law, has an indirect relationship to their currently marketed work, in such cases, negative publicity can increase sales. In other instances in which it is the product or service which is the subject of the negative publicity, such as a book or movie review, sales would be adversely effected.

Since this is generally the case, and since the negative press is directly attacking these conservative commentators products and services, why isn't the negative publicity negatively effecting their popularity? Well, it may have to do with risk. Negative advertising used against a politician works because their is risk involved in ignoring such advertising. The same is true with a product or service, the consumer risks his money, and in some cases, his safety, by ignoring the negative publicity. However, in the case of negative publicity against conservatives, the consumer need only risk a little time, usually at his discretion and leisure, to verify (or dismiss) the negative claims which the left presents against conservative commentators and Fox News.

So, if Rachel Maddow says that Glenn Beck is exploiting the tragedy of 9/11, or if Keith Olbermann attacks Glenn Beck for his part in bringing about the resignation of Van Jones, the public risks relatively nothing in deciding for themselves if such claims are accurate. And there in is the rub, because the public is obviously doing that, and are concluding that the negative publicity is substantively wanting. In the final analysis, it all boils down to credibility.

It seems to this observer, that the liberals are actually helping conservatives to get our message out, and while that is certainly their intent, we are nonetheless, very appreciative of their assistance.

Obama Cannot Unite America With Walls

Max 'Bogus' Health Care Reform Bill

Throughout the health care debate, Democrats have characterized Republicans as the 'party of no', largely because Republicans won't get with the fraudulent Democratic health care program. How fraudulent that program is in reality has become very apparent. The stated major goals of health care reform are:

Help the 49 million uninsured acquire adequate health care coverage
Reduce the cost of health care for all Americans
Americans who like their current health care coverage would be able to keep it
Health care reform legislation must be deficit neutral

The more we learn about the Baucus bill (hereafter referred to as the 'Bogus' bill), the more we realize that it falls far short of meeting these goals.

1). Help the 49 million uninsured acquire adequate health care coverage.

This number is, of course, an arbitrary one at best. The actual number of the uninsured in America is undetermined. I have heard numbers as low as 30 million, and as high as 49 million. So, granting then what has not been proved, we accept the 49 million figure with the understanding that 17 million of those are individuals who are financially well off enough to pay as they go, 18 million are young and healthy and choose to opt out, and 12 million are foreign nationals.

By the CBO's own estimate, the 'Bogus' bill would leave 25 million still uninsured by 2019. Since the 'Bogus' Bill will only cover roughly half of the uninsured, the door will be left open for further legislation down the road, like say, nationalized health care.

2). Reduce the cost of health care for all Americans.

The 'Bogus' bill will not reduce the cost of health care, in fact in will significantly increase it. First, the bill pushes off about $35 billion in Medicare costs onto the state governments, which in turn will pass those costs onto the taxpayer.

The bill will also levy a 40% excise tax on insurers who offer benefits in excess of $8,000 per individual plan and $21,000 per family plan; and as inflation increases in the coming years, more Americans will find themselves subject to the tax. There will also be taxes on health care devices and other services. The bill will mandate a requirement that insurers cover pre-existing conditions. Insurers also expect reductions in Medicare payments. All of the foregoing additional costs, providers will be forced to pass on to consumers in the form of increased premiums. A new study by Price Waterhouse Coopers estimates that the 'Bogus' bill will increase the health care premiums for a family of four by $4,000 by 2019.

3.) Americans who like their current health care coverage would be able to keep it.

Many Americans who currently have health insurance, and like it, will be forced leave it for a government approved plan, or pay a penalty. The bill will also gut Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Medicare Advantage Plans. Currently about 10 million Americans have an HSA, and one in five seniors are on Medicare Advantage.

4.) Health care reform legislation must be deficit neutral.

Despite the CBO estimates that the 'Bogus' bill would cut the deficit by $81 billion, the numbers are deliberately misleading. The CBO says that the bill will cost roughly $829 billion over the next 10 years (2010 - 2019), but the most expensive portions of the bill do not go into effect until 2013. If one estimates the cost over ten years beginning with the actual full operation year (2013 -2022), the bill will cost $1.3 trillion. The $81 billion figure comes from the projected cost offset from Medicare cuts. These Medicare cuts were authorized in 2003 and they have yet to be implemented. It is unlikely that Democrats would actually risk implementing these Medicare cuts, and if they do not, the 'Bogus' bill will end up costing $2.2 trillion between 2013 and 2022. Either way, the bill is not really deficit neutral.

I know that it seems amazing that the Democrats who claim to care so much about Americans in need of help, would propose a bill that offers so little help, and does so much harm. But one must remember what the real goal of the Democrats is, namely, a government run health care system. By screwing health care reform up so badly now, it presents a future opportunity for a public option redux.

Backdoor provisions.

While not a stated goal of health care reform, the bill can be used to force Americans to give up their right to own a gun. Through an 'unhealthy behavior' provision already in the bill, Americans could be denied coverage, or pay much higher premiums for coverage, if they own a gun for self defense or hunting. What constitutes 'unhealthy behavior' is yet to be defined by legislators, but why would Democrats , who have long had wet dreams about removing our second amendment rights, let a golden opportunity like this pass them by? To force Americans to bend the knee at their altar, and remove their wherewithal to effectively oppose them , all with one piece of legislation, of course they would do it.

Nobel Prize is Worthless Now

Apparently this was all that was in the heads of the Nobel Committee when they made their selection for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize recipient. In choosing Barack Obama as this years recipient, the Nobel Committee has now devalued the Nobel Prize to the point that it means absolutely nothing. Even the Nobel committee's citation is nothing less than an admission that Barack Hussein Obama, mmmm, mmmm, mmmm, was awarded the prize not on the basis actual accomplishments, but rather, on the prospect that he would achieve laudable accomplishments. Yes, that's right; 'hope and change'.

President Obama beat out a record number of nominees, 205 to be exact, many of whom had actual achievements to their credit. Among the top contenders are two individuals who have actually put their very lives on the line, Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Chinese dissident Hu Jia. Regardless of how you feel about the contribution offered by either of these two individuals, at least you can say that they have done something. What has Obama done? With so many, much more worthy contenders in the mix, it makes the awarding of the prize to Obama seem extremely suspicious, and many are naturally asking, why Obama? Is it intended as a consolation prize for the Olympic Committee debacle? Is it a bribe to prevent Obama from taking action in against Iran? Is it meant simply to encourage Obama to continue his current totalitarian course in America? Or, is it something even more obscene, something comparable to affirmative action?

Regardless of what the motivation of the Nobel committee really was, Obama does not deserve this award, and he knows it.

"I am both surprised and deeply humbled."

"I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments. But rather as an affirmation of American leadership. ... I will accept this award as a call to action."

Obama ought to be both embarrassed and insulted. A better man would refuse it. But not Barack Hussein Obama, mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. After all, the prize is more than an award, it comes with $1.4 million. Bling! Bling!

Government Run Health Care or Jail?

According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, an individual who fails to pay the penalty for not buying health insurance will face action from the Internal Revenue Service. On top of the penalty for not buying insurance, which could be as much as $1,900 (but it's not a tax), violators could face a $25,000 fine and one year behind bars. From Politico.com.

Under questioning from Sen. John Ensign(R-Nev.), Barthold said the IRS would "take you to court and undertake normal collection proceedings."
Ensign pursued the line of questioning because he said a lot of Americans don't believe the Constitution allows the government to mandate the purchase of insurance.
"We could be subjecting those very people who conscientiously, because they believe in the U.S. Constitution, we could be subjecting them to fines or the interpretation of a judge, all the way up to imprisonment," Ensign said. "That seems to me to be a problem."
Ensign's argument, however, wasn't persuasive to the committee -- which rejected an amendment from Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) to eliminate the individual mandate.
Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) was the only Republican to vote with Democrats to preserve the mandate.

So, if you do not have a health care plan, the government is going to make you buy one, whether you want to or not. If you do not buy a heath care plan, the government will fine you up to $1,900. Not just any plan mind you, you have to buy a government approved plan. If you already have a health insurance plan, but it is not a government approved plan, you will have to purchase an approved plan or be fined. So much for "if you like your health care plan you can keep it". Liars!

In either case, if you do not do as the government commands, you will be fined, and if you refuse to pay the fine, the government will charge you with a misdemeanor and penalize you further with more fines and possible jail time. What started out as a means to help the 49 million uninsured in America has taken on a life of it's own, and is now mutated into a way for the federal government to inject itself into the lives of every American with respect to health care.

Americans will no longer have the right;

to choose to buy health insurance or not.
to choose the health care plan that we think is best for our needs.
keep the plans and doctors that we already have.
reap the rewards of youth or healthy living by virtue of the fact that payments for coverage will be far more than the actual services received.
to choose high deductible coverage even if we can afford it.

Of course, if you choose not to give up these rights, you can go to jail, where you will have free room and board, free health care, and free cable TV, all on the tax payers dime.

Playing the Race Card to a Frazzle

"It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. And there is no way around that. And you know, you can tell these type of right wingers anything and they'll believe it, except the truth. You tell them the truth and they become -- it's like showing Frankenstein's monster fire. They become confused, and angry and highly volatile."

Certainly, you remember this quote from Janeane Garofalo, the de facto leader of the 'hate America first' crowd. She was not always a left wing nut job, she grew up conservative in a conservative family. Always outspoken, in college she was expressing her conservative viewpoints when a friend said to her, "You're an a**hole!". Assuming that her friend was criticizing her political views rather than her disposition, she changed her political views. Her disposition on the other hand, has not improved much. Garofalo begins her shows by greeting her audience with, "If there's any tea baggers here, welcome, and as always, white power."

I cannot imagine any American patriot soiling his/her hard earned money on one of her shows. Garofalo can spew more hatred of America in fifteen minutes, than most liberals could hope to do in a full day. Here are a few more of her more notable quotes:

"Our country is founded on a sham: our forefathers were slave-owning rich white guys who wanted it their way. So when I see the American flag, I go, `Oh my God, you`re insulting me.` That you can have a gay parade on Christopher Street in New York, with naked men and women on a float cheering, `We`re here, we`re queer!` -- that`s what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride."
“When Communist U.S.S.R. was a superpower, the world was better off. The right-wing media is trying to marginalize the peace movement.”
"These guys hate that a black guy is in the White House. But they immigrant bash, they pretend taxes and tea bags, and like I said, most of them probably couldn't tell you thing one about taxation without representation, the Boston tea party, the British imperialism, whatever the history lesson has to be. But these people, all white for the most part, unless there's some people with Stockholm syndrome there."

Garofalo crawled out from under whatever rock she calls home last night to appear on the show of fellow mudslinger, Bill Maher.

Now, we are having a civil war in this country. We have been having one for a very long time, we just have not started shooting at each other yet. In this conflict I understand that the other side will use any tactic which they deem to have a reasonable chance of success, so also, will we. Yet, they have been playing the race card for several months, and any reasonable tactician would have come to the conclusion by this time, that it is not going to work. But then again, I have never accused the left of being reasonable.

Fox News Channel is airing a new video of school children at a PTA meeting chanting the praises of the Obama administration. This is even a little more creepy than the one that came to light last week. While the children do not mention Obama's name specifically, there is no doubt about the allegiance of those who organized this performance.

MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell and liberal bloggers are defending these demonstrations of adoration and allegiance with the 'what's the big deal' defense. But, the left knows what the 'big deal' is. They know that this is indoctrination, and that is precisely why they are fine with it. All modern day tyrannical regimes use the public school system to promote and perpetuate loyalty, and most deny it. Adolf Hitler however, was quite open about it.

'Brandnuwords' = Same Results

By now I would hope that everyone has seen the Burlington Township (NJ) elementary school Obama chant video (talk about your 'cults of personality') which has been shown over and over on the Fox News Channel. The video was posted on YouTube by user 'brandnuwords', which is the user name for Charisse Carney-Nunes.

Nunes is the author of the children's book I am Barack Obama which "allows children to see themselves through the inspirational story of President Obama growing up as an ordinary child asking, 'Who will change the world?' ", and ultimately realizing "that he will"....(gag,..gag,...puke). Nunes is also the CEO of Brandnuwords publishing and is a Senior Vice President for Programs at The Jamestown Project. She is all about the socialist indoctrination of our children, as is The Jamestown Project. Michelle Malkin has been all over this story.

The indoctrination of our children has been going on for a very long while. I was introduced to Marxism in 1972 by my high school "American Government" teacher and, as a result of that indoctrination, I remained a Marxist till the mid 80's. If it seems that there is more of it going on now, well, it only seems that way. The fact is that now, they are only getting caught more often. Thank God for the Fox News Channel.

An interesting aside to all of this is the incredible irony of the name of The Jamestown Project. The Jamestown Project is a socialist group, and yet, they have chosen as the name for their group an historic example of the failure of socialism. In The Great Thanksgiving Hoax, Richard J. Maybury explains that many early colonies practiced socialism with disastrous results.

Many early groups of colonists set up socialist states, all with the same terrible results. At Jamestown, established in 1607, out of every shipload of settlers that arrived, less than half would survive their first twelve months in America. Most of the work was being done by only one-fifth of the men, the other four-fifths choosing to be parasites. In the winter of 1609-10, called "The Starving Time," the population fell from five-hundred to sixty.

Then the Jamestown colony was converted to a free market, and the results were every bit as dramatic as those at Plymouth. In 1614, Colony Secretary Ralph Hamor wrote that after the switch there was "plenty of food, which every man by his own industry may easily and doth procure." He said that when the socialist system had prevailed, "we reaped not so much corn from the labors of thirty men as three men have done for themselves now."

Before these free markets were established, the colonists had nothing for which to be thankful. They were in the same situation as Ethiopians are today, and for the same reasons. But after free markets were established, the resulting abundance was so dramatic that the annual Thanksgiving celebrations became common throughout the colonies, and in 1863, Thanksgiving became a national holiday.

Should Charisse Carney-Nunes, and mmmm, mmmm, mmmm, Barack Hussein Obama have their way, Americans would likewise, not have much to be thankful for. If socialists could learn anything from Karl Marx which would truly be profitable, it is this;

Did NBC's Jane Stone Send Anti-Semitic Slur?

Americans for Limited Government sent a e-mail, marked for immediate release, to NBC's Jane Stone calling on Congress to pass the 'Defund ACORN Act'. The response which they recieved back was , "Bite me Jew Boy!" To which ALG issued the following statement; Americans for Limited Government is appalled that an employee of the NBC news network apparently felt it was appropriate to send an email to an ALG employee, in response to a standard news release, saying, "Bite me, Jew Boy."

According to ALG records, the email came from the Blackberry and email address of Jane Stone, a producer for NBC's Dateline. The email was sent to Alex Rosenwald, the ALG Director of Media Outreach.
The news release to which Ms Stone apparently responded was one in which ALG called upon Congress to defund ACORN. Americans for Limited Government does not contend that NBC or its parent company GE, are anti-Semitic. What is highly disturbing, however, is that there clearly is a culture at NBC that has allowed this person who clearly has issues to go unchecked.
Ms Stone claims she did not send the offensive email. If that is not the case, we at ALG call upon her to help ascertain who did send it using her Blackberry and her email address. If Ms Stone did, in fact, send it, we at ALG call upon Ms Stone to apologize to Mr. Rosenwald, and we call upon the NBC hierarchy above Ms Stone to join her in issuing that apology.

NBC is denying ALG's allegations. NBC News president Steve Capus said, “I’m still in shock, and outraged that this reckless organization would go out with such a defamatory, irresponsible statement."

The Palestinians are the Problem

President Obama spoke today before the U.N. general assembly and demonstrated that he, like every U.S. President before him, is willing to engage in the futility of the middle east peace process. But, unlike his predecessors, President Obama had the good sense to end the middle east peace charade before it began. He did this by uttering these words, "without preconditions". The right of the state of Israel to exist has always been the the one issue upon which neither side has been willing to negotiate. In the past, Israel has been so desirous of peace that they have been willing to give the Palestinians all that they asked, save one; the extermination of the state of Israel.

When will we ever have a President who is willing to speak the truth on the subject of peace in the middle east? The harsh reality is this, that there will be no peace in the middle east until everyone who has a will to fight is dead and buried. From Israel's point of view, it is impossible to negotiate peace with an enemy who is 100% committed to your total destruction, and has demonstrated that they are absolutely unwilling to ever capitulate on that point. The entire process is farce.

The entire 'Palestinian problem' is a farce, a contrivance, the sole purpose of which is to destroy Israel. There is no such thing as a 'Palestinian people', there is no such thing as a 'Palestinian identity'. It is a myth created by by genocidal Arabs as an excuse to wage a war of annihilation against the state of Israel.

So how could Obama go before the U.N. today and perpetuate the myth of Israeli occupation, legitimize Palestinian claims to a nonexistent homeland, and call once again for a restart of the farcical 'peace process', this time, without preconditions? Because he is a Marxist, and as a Marxist, he is an anti-Semite, and more importantly, he is an anti-Zionist. Obama is throwing Israel under the bus, pure and simple.

The New Employee Free Choice Act

The Employee Free Choice Act of 2009 (HR 1409 & S 560), also known as 'Card Check' has been in legislative limbo since it failed to receive enough legislative support for passage. Turncoat Arlen Specter has introduced a compromise bill which he predicts will pass this year. Here are the highlights of the new proposal.

"Card Check" portion of the bill has been discarded.
Mandatory deadlines for elections when the union organizers feel they have a majority employee support.
Mandatory arbitration for 'first contracts' between a newly formed union and the employer.
Equal time access to employees for union organizers.
Increase penalties to employers who violate labor laws to triple the current levels.

Republican legislators say that Specter's optimism over a passage of this bill before the end of the year is unrealistic. At the moment, Democrats do not have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. We need to get every Republican on board to oppose this bill, because any legislation which gives unions additional leverage is a job killer.

Virginia, where I live, is a 'right to work' state. That means that trade unions are specifically barred from entering into agreement with employers so that new hires must join the union or pay union dues as a condition of employment. One of the arguments in favor of 'right to work' statutes is that right to work states tend to have lower unemployment rates than states that have not adopted this legislation. That is true.

The Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009 (HR 3548) is very close to passage and would extend unemployment benefits another 13 weeks in states with unemployment levels above 8.5%. There are 23 states in the union which would not qualify for the extension (have unemployment rates below 8.5%). Of those states, more than half (12) are right to work states. Of the top ten states with the lowest unemployment rates, eight of them are 'right to work' states. They are:

North Dakota (4.3%) - right to work
South Dakota (4.9%) - right to work
Nebraska (5.0%) - right to work
Utah (6.0%) - right to work
Virginia (6.5%) - right to work
Montana (6.6%)
Wyoming (6.6%) - right to work

I do understand that the there is an ideological connection (socialism) between the Democrat Party and 'Big Labor', I get that. The Real Racism is on the Left!

With opposition to President Obama increasing at an exponential rate, it seems that opportunities for the left to play the race card is increasing in direct proportion. One has to wonder if there is any criticism of the President specifically, or the tyrannical designs of the Democrats in general, which will not be condemned as being rooted in systemic racism. There is, however, real racism being demonstrated in this issue. It is real racism to characterize the 'tea party movement' as the sole product of gun toting white bigots. Even worse, there is real racism on display with respect to the voices of decent which are being ignored, and even hidden from the public by the MSM. Now, do not get me wrong, I am not suggesting that there is any legitimacy to the leftist notion that the first amendment to the Constitution is a guarantee of a persons right to be heard. It is not. It is only a guarantee of an individuals right to speak, it is not a right to be heard. What I am saying is this, that there are voices of concerned Americans which are being ignored for reasons of race.

Voices like those of Walter E. Williams, who stated plainly his opposition to Obamacare in Live Free or Die;

“I doubt whether there are many Americans who think Congress has either the right or competency to choose where they live, what clothes they wear or what cars they drive. Yet many Americans stand ready to allow Congress to decide what doctors they go to and what treatments they receive. We forget that once we have government-sponsored health care, it can be used to justify almost any restraint on liberty. That's the justification behind helmet and seatbelt laws.

Britain is well along the road toward totally controlling health care. Steyn says, "Under Britain's National Health Service, for example, smokers in Manchester have been denied treatment for heart disease, and the obese in Suffolk are refused hip and knee replacements. Patricia Hewitt, the British Health Secretary, says that it's appropriate to decline treatment on the basis of 'lifestyle choices.'" Steyn adds, "Smokers and the obese may look at their gay neighbor having unprotected sex with multiple partners, and wonder why his 'lifestyle choices' get a pass while theirs don't. But that's the point: Tyranny is always whimsical."

Or, that of Star Parker. She wrote of her opposition to Obama's socialist agenda in Back on Uncle Sam's Plantation.

"I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth producing American capitalism. But, incredibly, we are going in the opposite direction. Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh."

Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation. "

And, who in the MSM took any note of Kevin Jackson's condemnation of Jimmy Carter's race baiting comments in Carter Being Black;

"In case you didn’t know it, the real racists are people like Jimmy Carter, ok let me just say it…the Democrats! Think of it, a white Democrat guy from GEORGIA! You just can’t get any more racist than that…unless you are a Democrat from Alabama or Tennessee or South Carolina…or anywhere!

If you had the Democrats’ record on civil rights, you would be looking for a scapegoat too! Democrats are vicious racists! Thieving racists, in fact. They will readily use the KKK to paint Republicans as racists, KNOWING that the KKK is their organization!

Remember folks, Democrats voted to KEEP lynching laws on the books, and voted over 209 times against anti-lynching laws, including Senator Byrd’s proud declaration of being against anti-lynching. Hey, you never know when you will run into an “uppity [Republican] Negro,” who needs lynching like say…Clarence Thomas!

Democrats didn’t want black people learn to read back in the day! And when those pesky Republicans insisted that blacks be educated, Democrats designed a system where blacks have the lowest graduation rates and the lowest college entrance rates. The education system for blacks couldn’t have been better designed, if it had been designed by the KKK. Wait…it WAS!"

In the wake of the controversy over Joe Wilson's "You Lie" outburst, who in the MSM thought to reference Thomas Sowell's article Listening to a Liar:

"Hubris-laden charlatans" was the way a recent e-mail from a reader characterized the Obama administration. That phrase seems especially appropriate for the Charlatan-in-Chief, Barack Obama, whose speech to a joint session of Congress was both a masterpiece of rhetoric and a shameless fraud.

To tell us, with a straight face, that he can insure millions more people without adding to the already skyrocketing deficit, is world-class chutzpa and an insult to anyone's intelligence. To do so after an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office has already showed this to be impossible reveals the depths of moral bankruptcy behind the glittering words. Did we really need CBO experts to tell us that there is no free lunch? Some people probably did and the true believers in the Obama cult may still believe the President, instead of believing either common sense or budget experts."

How about Shelby Steele's opinion of President Obama's knee jerk reaction to Gates incident;

"Where race is concerned, I sometimes think of the president as the Peter Sellers character in “Dr. Strangelove.” Sellers plays a closet Nazi whose left arm—quite involuntarily—keeps springing up into the Heil Hitler salute. We see him in his wheelchair, his right arm—the good and decent arm—struggling to keep the Nazi arm down so that no one will know the truth of his inner life. These wrestling matches between the good and bad arms were hysterically funny.

When I saw Mr. Obama—with every escape route available to him—wade right into the Gates affair at the end of his health-care news conference, I knew that his demon arm had momentarily won out over his good arm. It broke completely free—into full salute—in the “acted stupidly” comment that he made in reference to the Cambridge police’s handling of the matter. Here was the implication that whites were such clumsy and incorrigible racists that even the most highly achieved blacks lived in constant peril of racial humiliation. This was a cultural narrative, a politics, and in the end it was a bigotry. It let white Americans see a president who doubted them.

Mr. Obama’s “post-racialism” was a promise to operate outside of tired cultural narratives. But he has a demon arm of reflexive racialism—identity politics, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and now Skip Gates. You can only put a demon like this to death by finding out what you really believe. We should hold Mr. Obama to his post-racialism, and he should get to know himself well enough to tell us what he really means by it. As for the odd triad of Messrs. Gates, Crowley and Obama, only Mr. Crowley seems to have functioned outside his cultural narrative. "

If any of the foregoing statements had been made by 'white' authors or columnists they certainly would not have escaped the notice of the MSM, or of the usual Democratic suspects in DC. To the left, the very notion of a black conservative is an aberration, even an abomination to some. Black conservatives are neither praised nor criticized. It is as if they do not exist, as if they are non-persons. And, it is more because of the color of their skin, than because of their ideology. Is that not racist? To ignore the opinions of black conservatives just because they are black.

Yet, when circumstances dictate that the left cannot simply ignore a black conservative, the criticism which they must endure is far worse than that which any white conservative would have to withstand. As this next example makes abundantly clear.

Entertainer Lloyd Marcus has been an active participant in the 'tea party movement', and he has experienced real racism while on the road with the 'Tea Party Express';

"I traveled on the Tea Party Express tour bus as a singer/songwriter, entertainer and spokesperson; 16 states, 34 rallies in two weeks. I experienced vicious racial verbal attacks, not from the tea party protesters. The racial hate expressed against me all came from the left, people who support president Obama’s radical socialist agenda.
Unfortunately, my deleted email box is littered with numerous messages expressing the following, “You are the dumbest self hating f****** n***** I have ever seen!”

These racists are outraged by my opening lines I boldly proclaimed at each rally. “Hello my fellow patriots! I am NOT an African-American! I am Lloyd Marcus, AMERCIAN!” At every rally, my proclamation inspired great applause and cheers of joy and approval from the audiences. After each rally many came to me with tears in their eyes. They said, “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you said. I am Irish (or Italian, or Asian) American. And yet, I would never hyphenate. I feel hyphening divides us. While it is fine to honor one’s origin, let’s all be American first”.

As to the claim that the tea party protesters are racist, they are not. Quite the opposite. At every rally with thousands in attendance, I was overwhelmingly showered with affection and thanks for standing up for America. At one rally, a sign read, “Lloyd Marcus for President”. These protesters are not racist. They are decent hard working ordinary Americans who love their country and disapprove of the radial changes planned by the Obama administration. Race is not an issue with them. They have deep concerns for their country."

Jesus said, "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye"- Matt. 7:4-5. Take notice Democrats! He was most certainly referring to people like you!

The British Dirt Bag Lectureship Continues

At the 2008 VMA's, Russell Brand took it upon himself to lecture Americans, "on behalf of the world", as to who we should elect as President of the United States. The year the communist front group MTV again asked Russel Brand to continue his lecture tour. This years VMA lectureship topic, health care.

"But I will acknowledge at this point, and I suppose English people are a bit different from you, because instead of truck we say lorry, instead of elevator we say lift, and instead of letting people die in the street we have free health care."

Under Great Britain's NHS elderly patients routinely, and often erroneously, fall under the purview of the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP), often referred to by critics as the "Death Pathway". The LCP is nothing less that a health care rationing system that all too often sentences patients to death who are merely suffering from dehydration or have been over medicated. On the issue of the quality of care under NHS, the British Patients Association has recently issued a report in which it was very critical of health care under the NHS. The Telegraph reports that;

"In the last six years, the Patients Association claims hundreds of thousands have suffered from poor standards of nursing, often with 'neglectful, demeaning, painful and sometimes downright cruel' treatment. The charity has disclosed a horrifying catalogue of elderly people left in pain, in soiled bed clothes, denied adequate food and drink, and suffering from repeatedly cancelled operations, missed diagnoses and dismissive staff."

Now, health care which is described as "sometimes downright cruel" probably does not bother Mr. Brand since he is known to engage in cruelty for his own gratification. Take for example when the 'British dirt bag' took part in a BBC radio broadcast on Oct. 18, 2008, in which he left repeated messages on the answering machine of British actor Andrew Sachs describing in obscene detail his sexual exploits with the actor's granddaughter. Brand even joked on the air that Sachs might commit suicide when he hears the messages. Even worse, at the time of this cruel and tasteless 'joke', Sachs' wife Melody was in hospital recovering from hip surgery.

Of course, the left is never concerned about the character content of the individuals who support their designs, but it is very telling to the rest of us how often their supporters expose themselves to be complete reprobates.

Kanye West Interrupts Jimmy Carter

"I think people are guilty of that kind of personal attack against Obama, have been influenced to a major degree by a belief that he should not be president because he happened to be African American."

Carter might have elaborated further if it had not been for the inebriated Kanye West, who stormed onto the stage and interrupted the ex-President's prepared statements.

Mr. West's publicist refused to comment on whether Kanye's remarks were racially motivated.

Their latest impotent attempt has come in the form of trotting out the anti-Semitic, Presidential failure, Jimmy Carter.

The addition of Jimmy Carter to the 'all Obama detractors are racist' sales force seems like a particularly poor recruitment decision given that it was only a few days ago that Carter's book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, made the Bin Laden recommended reading list. A fact that Rush Limbaugh touched upon today when he dubbed Jimmy Carter the 'National Hemorrhoid". Have you noticed that Democrat ex-Presidents never go away. They keep returning, like dogs to their own vomit, to reinsert themselves into the public debate, as if anybody on either side of the aisle, wanted or needed them to do so. They truly are , 'national hemorrhoids'.

The fact is, that it does not matter who the Democrats recruit to sell this product; the only people who are buying, are the people doing the selling. This particular lie will never become truth by virtue of the fact that the people they are trying to sell, are the very same people about whom they are lying. I don't care how good a salesman one might be; there is no market for self-flagellation.

The Continuing Legacy of Ronald Reagan

In 1985 FCC Chairman Mark S. Fowler announced that the agency would begin dismantling the 'Fairness Doctrine' because the policy was injurious to the public interest and violated free speech rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. Ronald Reagan supported the effort despite the advice of his staff who were concerned that repealing it would result in increased media assaults on the President.

In 1987, in the case Meredith Corp. v. FCC, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that in the absence of a Congressional mandate, the FCC did not have to enforce the doctrine. In the spring of 1987 the Democrat-controlled Congress attempted to provide that mandate. Both houses of Congress passed a bill which would have provided the statutory requirement needed to ensure the continued enforcement of the doctrine by the FCC. President Reagan vetoed that bill. In August of 1987 the FCC repealed the Fairness Doctrine by 4-0 vote.

In 1988 Rush Limbaugh moved to New York City and began broadcasting The Rush Limbaugh Show nationally. Liberals recognized that the phenomenon of The Rush Limbaugh Show presented a serious threat to their agenda and, being ever unwilling to allow the 'fairness doctrine' to give up the ghost, have made repeated demands to Limbaugh that he allow them equal time to refute his right wing pontifications, to which Limbaugh has always responded, " I am equal time".

The success of the Limbaugh show proved to the broadcasting industry that the public was literally starved for an alternative to the lock step left leaning MSM. Today conservative political talk dominates the radio airwaves, and the Fox News Channel produces 9 of the top 10 highest rated cable news shows.

President Reagan died June 5, 2004, but his legacy is still being written. By repealing the 'Fairness Doctrine', he has given us the wherewithal to have the current debate; 'liberty vs. tyranny'. America owes Ronald Wilson Reagan a debt of gratitude which we cannot repay, except, possibly, by winning this debate and restoring our republic.

Pro-Heathcare Rally? What Rally?

There was a pro-health care reform rally today in Washington DC. It was to start at noon and continued till 5:00 PM. If you did not hear about it, that is probably because nobody really covered it. Fox News Channel mentioned it briefly, and even showed a short video clip. The showing was so small by comparison to the massive anti-big government rally yesterday, that apparently, nobody in the MSM felt that it was even worth so much as the brief mention which Fox graciously gave it.

The 9/12 March on Washington rally yesterday was so huge that even MSNBC not only reported it, but estimated the numbers of attendees in the hundreds of thousands. Check out the video below.

Hey, Obama! How Can You Be Deaf With Ears That Big?

Candidate Obama said that we should judge him by the people that he surrounds himself with. We did as he asked! We looked at the people that he surrounded himself with and decided that he was a socialist. We looked at his agenda and decided that he most certainly was a socialist.

Once he was elected, he and the Democrats in Congress began to implement that socialist agenda. We the people protested, we called them, we wrote them, we e-mailed them, and we have confronted them face to face at town hall meetings. At no time have they taken us seriously. They have called us 'racists', 'right wing extremists', 'nazis', 'GOP tools', 'teabaggers', 'astroturf' and 'liars'. They have ignored us, dismissed us, and demonized us. And yet, we have not gone home, we have not given up, and we have not backed down, not even one inch.

Today the people turned out for the largest protest to date. Hundreds of protests across the nation with a march on Washington DC as the centerpiece. Michelle Malkin is reporting the nationwide numbers to be close to 2 million people. In Washington DC alone, the numbers were in the tens of thousands, (as the pictures below will attest to). The 9/12 Rallies were a huge success, but the deafness of Washington has infected the MSM as well. Very few news outlets have felt today's events rose to the level of being 'news worthy'.

Our President and our legislators are playing a dangerous game with our lives, and our future. Many times in the history of the world, leaders have felt comfortable ignoring the dissatisfaction of the people. More often than not, it has not turned out well for those leaders. Democrats Demanding R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Liberals in the state run media and on the web are all abuzz about the behavior of the Republicans during the Polarizer in Chief's speech last evening. Danielle Belton had this to say on her blog;

"Much of the Republican side of Congress sat through the speech grumpily looking like sad rabbits, sitting on their hands. House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, Blackberry in hand, texted throughout the speech. Some Republicans waved papers at the president. One Joe Wilson of South Carolina took it a disrespectful step further by actually shouting out "You lie!" at the president after Obama said the healthcare plan would not cover illegal immigrants. That was shocking in the sense that it is rare for a politician to directly call another politician a liar to their face, but it was a dangerous precedent in that Wilson did this during a joint session of congress to the President of the United States while he was speaking......it was an pretty big sign of disrespect to the office of the president."

In was Democrats who first broke the disrespect barrier in 2005 when, during President Bush's State of the Union speech, house Democrats shouted "No!" and booed the President.

Joe Wilson (R-SC) called the White House to apologize for calling the President a liar, but was he right? Well, technically, no. Persons receiving benefits under HR 3200 "must be lawfully present in a state in the United States.” However, on principle, Wilson is correct. Hr 3200 contains no provision for verification of the legal status of any recipients. The Democrats are leaving the door open for illegals to obtain benefits, while honestly being able to say that language in the legislation itself prohibits it. The Patriot Page stands behind Rep. Wilson's assertion that the President lied on this issue.

As to the other perceived inappropriate behavior exhibited by Republicans during the speech, it really could have been worse, and if the Democrats continue to follow their current course, it will be. Personally, I would have paid good money to see every Republican in that chamber stand up, fold their arms, and turn their backs on the President; and remain in that position for the duration of the speech.

Change! At What Price?

I am not a native Virginian, but as I was in the process of moving to Virginia, I thought that it would be great to live under a state flag which read, "sic semper tyrannis' (thus always to tyrants). Of course, I did know that a motto alone does not insulate a people from the tyrannical designs of evil men, or from those who do their bidding. On Aug. 25 Jim Moran (D-VA) held a town hall meeting at a public school in Reston, VA. Opponents of nationalized health care organized a protest in which they exercised their constitutional rights to peacefully assemble and to demand redress of grievances. Many were carrying signs. One protester was carrying the sign shown at the right of this page. Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr., who was assigned to crowd control duty at that location, apparently was offended by the sign.

Watch the video of the incident, which seems to have been taken by the individual with the sign. Pay particular attention to the exchange at the end of the clip.

"This use to be America", the protester says. "It ain't no more", responds the officer.

As I write this, the President has just finished his speech on health care reform to a joint session of Congress. The speech was his typical Obaminable mixture of platitudes, distortions, lies, and damn lies. Amid cheers and boos coming from the right and the left side of the chamber, the President showed once again, that he is the great 'polarizer in chief'. The purpose of this speech was to motivate and embolden the Democrats in Congress to ram this 'national socialist measure' down America's throat.

Back in 1996, as election day approached, some conservatives were saying that "America needed four more years of Bill Clinton" in order to push Americans further to the right. They of course could not have foreseen the 'Lewinsky scandal' which shifted attention from what Clinton was doing from his office, to what he was doing in his office. Now, I am hearing murmurs from some conservatives suggesting that we need the Democrats to shove this health care bill through on their own, and thereby destroy themselves. The future, as always, is unforeseeable. Even if events unfold as expected, playing politics with dangerous pieces of legislation is morally repugnant. Yes, the Democrats may pay for it in the short term, but the American people will be those who suffer in the long term. The price is far too great. God, forbid it.

Van Jones: What Was the WH Vetting Process?

In typical Democrat 'damage control' fashion, Van Jones, Obama's '~~Green~~ Red Jobs Czar', announced his resignation shortly after midnight today following what he called a "vicious smear campaign against me." Interpretation; "Oh, boo hoo, I'm a victim of those mean Weepubwicans." For Democrats, this kind of defense is easier than growing a set.

In fairness to Van Jones, we will examine his 'vicious smear campaign' defense. It was Van Jones who decided to deal with his disappointment over the Rodney King verdict by becoming a self professed communist. It was Van Jones who said;

"I met all these young radical people of color– I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.'

It was Van Jones who decided to found the Marxist organization Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM). It was Van Jones who established the racially biased 'Green For All' and 'Color of Change' organizations. It was Van Jones who said of the Columbine massacre;

"You've never seen a Columbine done by a black child. Never. They always say, 'We can't believe it happened here. We can't believe it's these suburban white kids.' It's only them!" "Now, a black kid might shoot another black kid. He's not going to shoot up the whole school."

It was Van Jones who called Republicans, "assholes". It was Van Jones who chose to sign a petition charging the U.S. government with masterminding the 9/11 attacks. And, it was all of the aforementioned acts by Van Jones which caused the outrage in which Glenn Beck, patriot and 'all around good guy', played a minor role.

Now that Van 'the commie' Jones has finally resigned, pundits on both sides of the aisle are asking what went wrong with the White House vetting process. It is really a rather stupid question! I mean, what are the choices?

A). The FBI overlooked all of the aforementioned issues in Jones' background.

B). The White House was aware of Jones' background and approved his appointment despite them.

C). The White House was aware of Jones' background and approved his appointment because of them.

Everybody is aware that sex sells, even in the political arena. It is a weakness in the human condition which is exploited often. And yes, I am exploiting it now.

Shorty after Sarah Palin had been named John McCain's running mate I published a post entitled Bikini Pics of Sarah Palin, and shorty thereafter, Bikini Pics of Sarah Palin: Update. These two posts generated an enormous number of daily hits at the time. The pictures of Sarah Palin shown here have made the rounds on the web since before the election. Both are photoshopped fakes. Nevertheless, I still get a few hits a week to those posts.

But, as they say, 'I have good news and I have bad news'. That was the bad news. The good news is that things have changed significantly. The current state of political discourse my seem grim, but there are reasons to be hopeful. Americans have become much more engaged and informed, and much of the information that they are getting, they are actually seeking.

In reviewing the keyword search details for this blog, I was pleased to discover that 53% of all keyword searches are associated with the details of HR 3200 which have landed searchers on Obama Health Care Plan Details. Even better; 25% of all keyword searches land folks on DSA Members in Congress.
It is the precise wording of those searches which is very telling. Here are a few;

It is obvious that these individuals want to know who the socialists are in our government. Even though The Patriot Page does not generate a whole lot of traffic, and since I am a optimist, I prefer to view these things as an indication of a broader shift in American political thought.

And now, on a somewhat disturbing note, I must report that a small minority of keyword searches were from individuals looking for pictures of Nancy Pelosi in a bikini. If they are out there, and you have had the misfortune to have actually seen them, I sincerely hope that the loss of your eyesight will only be temporary.

While surfing political blogs today I came across a portion of an open letter to members of the Republican party. I left a comment which he deleted. I left another comment; he will likely delete that one, too. So much for debate! But, I digress. Now, why did I feel that this was worth re-printing here? Two reasons. First, we are winning this debate, and this rant shows that they are aware that we are winning this debate. Second, it shows just how deranged they are. You can almost see him banging away on the keyboard at 2 am, the foam mingled with saliva flinging from the corners of his mouth as his head spins around on his tattooed torso. The left is very frustrated. They were so close to changing our 'free republic' into a 'people's republik'. We are throwing our 'sabot' into the wheels of the progressive machine to stop them from turning, and the left is not happy about it. They will try to stop us, by any means necessary, and they are capable of anything. They have already drawn first blood.

The thing to remember is that we are winning, and we will win, we just have to stand firm.

Kool-Aid Drinkers Beg Forgiveness

A new Zogby poll conducted from Aug. 28-31 puts Obama's job approval number at 42% and his disapproval number at 48%. The poll indicates that declining support among likely Democrat voters is a leading factor. In this most recent poll, approval of the job Obama is doing among Republicans (8%) and Independents (37%) were only slightly down from the previous poll taken on July24. However, the approval of Obama's job performance among Democrats is down 13% from the previous poll.

The poll also found;

17% give Obama an excellent job rating, 25% rate him good, 16% fair and 41% poor. Combining the two highest and lowest rankings shows 42% rating Obama positively and 57% negatively. (This is the standard Zogby International has used for many years in measuring job performance.)

Likely voters are closely split on whether they have a favorable opinion of Obama, with 50% favorable and 48% unfavorable. Democrats are more positive about Obama personally than they are of his job performance, with 85% rating him favorably.

52% of all likely voters are proud to have Obama as President, and 35% are ashamed. The percentage of those proud is unchanged from six weeks ago.

A majority of likely voters (53%) believe the U.S. headed in the wrong direction, with 38% saying right direction.

Voter remorse syndrome is really beginning to take hold. There is even a web site, a kind of former Kool-aid drinkers support group. I am sorry I voted for Obama was begun at the beginning of August and now has more than 2000 remorseful signers. Here is a sample lament from someone in Camden, New Jersey which was posted today;

"I voted for Obama, even though I am a staunch conservative. Why? Because McCain was the worst possible Republican candidate they could have chosen. I wanted the GOP to get a wake-up call. Instead, I got a wake-up call. The message? No matter how bad a Republican candidate might be, he/she would at least be in favor of the USA and it's freedoms. Instead we got a radical, racist, Marxist who is intent on destroying the principles on which this great nation was founded. I am so sorry I voted for Barry. Even Hillary would have been better."

Hind sight is always 20/20! I suppose for some, there may be additional pain that they may have to endure beyond the remorse.

In reality, those who voted for Obama need not don sackcloth and ashes. It is not entirely their fault. The socialist wing of the Democratic party has been in the leadership thereof for more than a quarter of a century. America should have had this debate a long time ago, long before we found ourselves on the very brink of losing our republic. If America truly learns from this experience, the Democratic party is finished as a political power. If not, America may be in for a very long and painful struggle.

Health Care Now! Goodbye Jobs!

I get so sick of hearing the President say, "If you like your current health care plan, you can keep it." It is just not true! The health care reform bills currently being debated in Congress, HR3200 and the Blue Dog compromise version, both contain some type of play-or-pay mandate. Play-or-pay requires employers to contribute 72.5 percent of the premium for individual health insurance and 65 percent of the premium for family coverage for their employees or be taxed up to 8% of each employee's wage for the Health Insurance Exchange Trust Fund. These play-or-pay mandates will have an adverse effect on employment.

The Heritage Foundation is reporting that play-or-pay mandates will put 5.2 million American workers at risk of losing their jobs or having their hours dramatically cut.

"The play-or-pay mandates in these bills, which require employers to offer health insurance to their employees or pay a tax to the federal government, will affect between 95 million and 105 million workers, and 509,000 to 1.4 million employers, including up to 1 million small businesses.[4] The mandates will cost businesses at least $49 billion per year and put 5.2 million low-wage workers at risk of unemployment or reduced working hours. The prospect of fewer job opportunities in the future will put another 10.2 million workers at risk of slower wage growth and cuts in other benefits.[5] Up to 382,000 low-wage unskilled workers are likely to lose their jobs.[6] Further, some of the cost of the mandates will be passed on to American consumers in higher prices for goods and services--an indirect tax on savers and those with fixed incomes."

"Although the employer mandate in H.R. 3200 will result in a net increase of 3 million workers with employment-based health insurance (1.7 percent), according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the mandate will cause 9 million mostly low-wage and part-time workers to lose their employment-based health insurance.[7]"

For those who may doubt that the Heritage Foundation assessment is reflective of the reality
of play-or-pay in practical application, one need only to look at Hawaii's 35 year old mandate. In a 2007 study, the Employment Policy Institute took a look at Hawaii's health care reform law and the resulting effect on employment. The report, Comparing The Effects Of Health Insurance Reform Proposals: Employer Mandates, Medicaid Expansions, and Tax Credits, concluded;

"The results of this paper suggest that while the employer mandate may provide the largest drop in the number of uninsured, it does so at the highest cost in terms of lost jobs, foregone wages, and increased employer spending."

The Charlotte Observer likewise noted that Hawaii's employer health care mandate tended to have an adverse effect on employment as a result of the employers need to offset the additional cost that the mandate imposed.

"Because Hawaii's law covers only those who work more than 20 hours per week, some companies have changed hiring practices to save money."

“ 'Naturally, everybody tries to keep their workers as part-time,' said Jack Schneider, president of J.S. Services, which handles human resources and mandated benefits for about 200 Hawaii companies. 'If you create a law, people find ways to get around it.' ”

The road to hell may be paved with good intentions, but it is also littered with the potholes of unintended consequences. However, the word 'unintended' may not apply in the case of the health care reform effort. The President, as well as the Democrats in Congress are aware, or should be aware, of the effect of their proposals in practical application.

How Divided is America?

The Rasmussen Obama Approval Index for today has America evenly split 50/50 in terms of total approval/disapproval. Since Inauguration Day, President Obama's total approval numbers have diminished by 15%, and his total disapproval numbers have risen by 20%. Clearly, Obama's negatives are rising faster than his positives are shrinking. At this rate, what will the President's approval numbers look like by the end of the year? What will they be at his mid-term? Will the Democratic Party even be able to support a second term for Obama?

The political climate which is negatively affecting Obama, is also negatively affecting every Democrat currently holding office, or seeking office. In the Real Clear Politics generic ballot poll average Democrats and Republicans are separated by less than 1/10 of 1%. This is a huge difference from the polling taken just before the election last year. At that time, Democrats led Republicans by double digits. While the current numbers may indicate that Americans are evenly divided along party lines, in terms of ideology, it is anything but an even split.

According to a new Gallup poll, more Americans identify themselves as 'conservative' rather than 'liberal' in all 50 states, and conservatives outnumber liberals by double digits in 40 states. Only in the District of Columbia do liberals outnumber conservatives. This is not a new trend; America has always been center right. So how is it that liberals seem to have so much success in driving government policy so consistantly toward 'statism'.

The biggest problem in the struggle against statism are those who remain neutral; the so called 'moderates'. While moderates outnumber liberals in every state, they also outnumber conservatives in more than half. Liberal Democrats manipulate the moderate voters by pretending to be center right ideologically, while their center left comrades in the media demonize the opposition. It is also very difficult to convince a fence sitting moderate to choose a side since they firmly believe that by not choosing sides they are occupying the moral high ground. They have to come to that decision on their own.

The good news is that the current political battle over health care may be helping moderates to choose a side; the right side.

In the forth chapter of the book of Matthew, Jesus went out into the desert alone to fast and the devil came to tempt him. Beginning in verse eight thereof, we read;

8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
10Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' " - Matt. 4:8-10.

If only John McCain had been there. If he had been, he might have said something like this;

"I think what you two need is someone who knows how to reach across the aisle in a bi-partisan way and work out a deal. I know how to do that! Now, Satan, Jesus has already come a long way in recognizing that there is a place in this world for the Prince of Darkness, and that God has been willing in the past to give you a little leeway; remember Job? Alright, then! So Jesus isn't willing to worship the ground you walk on, worship is over rated anyway. What we all really want is a little respect, right? So, what would you be willing to give if I could persuade Jesus to think highly of you?"

Absurd? Not at all! This is exactly what Sen. McCain was doing at town hall in meetings in Arizona today; stumping to make a compromise with the devil. Bipartisanship is a myth.

What hope has bipartisanship ever offered to us but to slow the rate at which socialist forces have been advancing in this country? The Democrat idea of bipartisanship is that Republicans do all the compromising until the Democrats get everything they want. A good example of the Democrats notion of compromise is the Weiner Amendment. In response to complaints over the length, complexity, and clamour over all the controversial issues with HR 3200, Rep. Anthony Weiner offered HR 676 which would scrap HR 3200 and simply expand Medicare to cover every American.

The American people are winning this debate. We do not need any help, nor do we want any help, from the 'me too' Republicans. As it stands right now, the Democratic Party is 'all in' to receive all the blame for the health care reform bill, why would the Republicans want board that sinking ship? We all know that any serious discussion of 'health care reform' has to begin with 'tort reform'. By making tort reform the 'line in the sand', the Republicans can take the high ground and be out of the path of the destruction which is descending upon the Democrats.

Stuffing Alinsky Down the Democrats Throat

The American left is accustomed to being in the face of everyone that they consider an enemy or an obstacle. It has been a way of life for them since the sixties, and they have become very good at it. I have often referred to the left's modus operandi as the 'squeaky wheel method of political discourse.' It works really well, especially when it is implemented by organized groups with a common tactical strategy. Since 1971, the framework for that strategy has been Saul Alinsky's book, Rules for Radicals.

Now the left finds itself on the receiving end of 'in your face, squeaky wheel activism' and they have no clue as to how to effectively deal with it. Seems they have never developed a contingency plan for the possibility that their opponents would use their own playbook against them by 'astroturf right wing extremists', but that is exactly what has been happening.

Rules for Radicals is in the Top 75 on Amazon.com's best seller list. The retailer has sold more than 1000 copies this month alone. If you go to that page and look at the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought...." section it becomes abundantly obvious that the people buying Rules are conservatives. So does this legitimize the 'astroturf' charge? If it does, so what; and who cares?

As a recovering leftist, I can say that if I were still among their ranks, deluded as I may have been, that I would be very concerned about the future of the leftist movement in America. Times have changed! The left no longer controls the whole of American media. The left has alienated the southern states and they can no longer be counted upon to vote solidly for the Democratic Party. They have pretty much played out the race card, and Americans have been force fed so much bleeding heart 'great society' crap sandwich that they are ready to spew.

The most effective aspect of the 'squeaky wheel' method is not just that it generates interest, but that it generates sympathy. Regardless of how the person felt about the issue before the clamor started, when they see people angry and upset over it, they are naturally compelled to rethink their own position. It is a very effective passive method of conversion. The left knows this, and they know that there is nothing that they can do to counter it. I believe that the Democratic Party is about to experience its shortest tenure of political dominance in their history.

MSNBC is Color Blind?

On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King gave his famous 'I Have a Dream' speech. The spirit of one of the most often quoted lines from this speech, has become one of the most ignored, at least by the American left.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Occasionally however, the left leaning media demonstrates that they are capable of exercising actual color blindness. Well, sort of. When it suits the purpose of advancing the political agenda of the Democrat party, the MSM will engage in a lie of omission with respect to the ethnicity of some.

In 1996, University of California Regent Ward Connerly sponsored proposition 209 which amended the California state constitution to prohibit public institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity. The media in California ran stories focusing on the opposition to the measure and op-eds demonizing the proponents. The public was left with the distinct impression that prop. 209 was racist measure which would set minorities and women back decades. While carefully trying to shape public opinion against the measure, the media was equally careful not to publish any photos of the measure's sponsor, Ward Connerly.

The ruse was exposed when Jesse Jackson, who had come to California to lead the fight against 209, felt the need to offer a plausible explanation for his refusal to debate Connerly. Jackson explained that he did not wish young black men and women to become confused by the site of two black men debating the merits of affirmative action. Proposition 209 passed with 54% of the vote.

MSNBC attempted much the same deception on Tuesday. During the Morning Meeting program, Contessa Brewer ran a video clip which consisted of only of close up shots of the firearms being carried by a man at a pro-health care rally.

The video clip had been deliberately edited in such a way as to completely conceal the fact that the man in question was in fact an African American. Brewer said, "there are questions about whether this has racial overtones....white people showing up with guns." I imagine that the credibility of her words might have been diminished somewhat, if they had not edited the video.

During the segment, MSNBC pop culture analyst Toure argued: "...there is tremendous anger in this country about government, the way government seems to be taking over the country, anger about a black person being president....we see these hate groups rising up and this is definitely part of that."

I imagine that the man, whose identity is not known at this time, might not be to pleased with being colored (excuse the pun) as white, or of being associated with individuals who may be angry that a black person is President.

There is a reason why in a recent Basic Cable Network Rankings for prime time, Fox news is #2 and MSNBC is #24 out of 30 networks. I believe it is because when it comes to news, Americans have a preference for non-fiction.

Health Care, Free Speech, and the American Way

Have you ever seen someone deftly waving their arms in the air in a futile effort to dissuade a tenacious insect which seems hell bent on getting in the unfortunate person's face? It is analogous to the way in which the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats have been dealing with the town hall 'mobs'. Despite the efforts at all levels of government, including the state run media, to characterize the angry citizens showing up at town hall meetings as a manufactured, racially motivated, fringe effort to sabotage health care reform, the Democrats have lost control of the debate.

A new Rasmussen poll indicates that 54% of Americans now say that passing no health care reform bill would be better than passing the plan now working its way through Congress, and that 51% fear the government more than they fear the insurance companies when it comes to making their health care decisions.

This situation is completely unacceptable to the left wing 'collective', being accustomed as they are, to controlling the debate through Utopian platitudes alone. The left believes that there is a critical subtext connected with the town hall dissent which must be addressed, i.e., unmoderated free speech.

In a recent NY Times piece, James Fishkin explains the problem this way;

"The Congressional town-hall-style meeting, which developed as a cost-effective way for time-pressed members to hear from constituents, also rests on an illusion: that a district of 650,000 potential voters can be represented by the unscientifically self-selected who decide to show up. Instead, these amorphous, unpredictable meetings have become open invitations for interest groups and grass roots campaigns to capture the public dialogue."

I suppose that Mr. Fishkin must not be a fan of free elections. After all, what is a free election but the majority being represented by a minority of 'unscientifically self-selected who decide to show up' at the polls to vote.

Having demonstrated that he has his finger firmly placed on the very pulse of the problem, Mr. Fishkin offers what he believes to be a viable solution;

"But there is a way of organizing town halls that would offer lawmakers representative and informed feedback about their constituents’ major concerns: a deliberative poll. Whereas ordinary polls represent the public’s surface impression of sound bites and headlines, deliberative polls bring together a scientifically selected microcosm of a lawmaker’s constituents under conditions conducive to thinking about issues. In effect, an entire Congressional district really can be put in one room."

"These deliberative polls may, on the surface, look a lot like the current town halls — a lawmaker and constituents sharing their positions and asking each other questions. But a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes. First, a survey identifies the range of attitudes and demographics in the district, before inviting a randomly selected, representative sample of constituents to attend. A random sample cannot be captured by people with intense interests volunteering themselves. Second, to facilitate discussion, participants are sent balanced briefing materials about the issues to be discussed ahead of time."

"When they first arrive at the deliberative poll, attendees answer a confidential questionnaire assessing their positions, before being divided up for small-group discussions. This is key: in the current town hall format, shrill voices can easily silence the rest. But during a deliberative poll, trained moderators make sure that every voice is heard and that the group carefully and thoughtfully narrows in on its most pertinent and pressing policy questions. When all the participants finally assemble with the lawmaker, the result is a serious and productive conversation well beyond what we’ve seen in town halls lately."

Leave it to a Stanford professor of communications to come up with a brilliant and incredibly expensive way of crushing free speech. In times past, tyrants suspended free speech in a much more cost effective manner; under pain of death. By the time that the American left contrives all of the devious, stealthy, and expensive ways necessary to silence all dissent, the resulting system will collapse under its own weight.

America was born in an argument. The debate over independence was so volatile that in some instances it estranged family members permanently. Independence would never have been declared if the services of 'trained moderators' had been employed to promote mutual understanding in the debate. What has been taking place in town hall meetings across the country is not un-American as Nancy Pelosi would have everyone believe. Nothing could be more American.

President Obama held the second of three planned Town Hall meetings today in Belgrade, MT. Just as in the first town hall style meeting in NH, Obama bravely faced a throng of largely adoring Obamaites and soft ball questions. Despite the concerns over so called 'health care misconceptions' and lagging poll numbers, he who has been dubbed the 'master communicator' continues to spout the same old rhetoric, but expecting a different response.

Barely seven months into this administration, Camelot (Take Three) is in real trouble. The Democrats are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They have run every play in the Rules for Radicals playbook and they are still losing ground. And it is precious ground. You see, Health Care Reform has never been about improving the quality, cost, or availability of health care for Americans. It has been about power. It is the center piece of the Democrats plans to cement themselves in power by forcing us all into dependency upon our government. Democrats hate it when conservatives point out that a government big enough to give you all that you need, is big enough to take away all that it has a want to. They hate it because the simple truth contained there in, is exactly what they have been slowly and stealthily working toward all these years.

But, the Democrats find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Whenever the right has mustered themselves to grassroots activism, the left has been able to demonize them and beat them down. But, not this time. The ground swell of dissension has swept the nation. It began with the Tea Parties, which were dismissed as pure 'racism straight up'. Through TARP, the bailouts, the appointment of a tax cheat to the office of Treasury Secretary, the stimulus bill, cap and tax, cash-for-clunkers, and now, the health care reform act; millions of Americans have flooded their Representatives with phone calls, e-mails, and letters voicing their extreme displeasure. Democratic law makers, who view their commitment to the quest for power above their duty to the people and the Constitution; dismissed, ignored, and demonized patriotic Americans concerned for the future of the Republic.

The people were left with but one choice, to confront their Democratic Representatives and Senators face to face. The Democrats, who are never at a loss for self delusion, have failed to realize that the monster that they now face is one of their own creation. All of their efforts to stem the tide of dissent have served only to enrage and encourage the opposition. Being morally obtuse, as all tyrants are, Obama has begun a campaign of passive intimidation. But, make no mistake, it's passive nature is but temporary.

We must not fool ourselves. The fight we have begun will not be over with the next election, or the one after that. Remember Michelle Obama's words, "Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed." We must think of her words as eerily prophetic.

"Socialist" is the New "N-Word": UPDATED

Almost from the very moment that Barack Obama threw his hat into the Presidential contender ring, the Democrats, Obama included, have failed to resist the temptation to play the race card. I am of course giving them an extreme benefit of the doubt for having tried to 'resist'. Be that as it may, it is obvious to any rational observer that they have played the race card to an incredulous extent. It seems that anyone, be it a group or an individual, who opposes the President on any issue runs the risk of being accused of racism. This is especially true with respect to the TEA party protesters and the citizens who are vociferously confronting their lawmakers at town hall meetings.

In the absence of clear evidence of racial motivation on the part of the dissenters, those making the charge are being forced into contriving loose and subjective interpretations of the signs, slogans, and words used by the protesters. A recent example of this came from MSNBC's Carlos Watson, who, in his "C-Note" segment made these remarks;

"Today I want to talk about a word that we're hearing more and more, and that's the word socialist. You hear it from a lot of conservatives these days, that's usually critiquing the President, or more broadly Democrats. And while that's certainly a legitimate critique, there certainly is an ideology that can and should be critiqued at certain times, it also some times is just a kind of a generic conservative bludgeoning tool. And that's alright, too, because you hear it on the Democratic side as well: rightwingnut, what have you."

"But what concerns me is when in some of those town hall meetings including the one that we saw in Missouri recently where there were jokes made about lynching, etc., you start to wonder whether in fact the word socialist is becoming a code word, whether or not socialist is becoming the new N-word for frankly for some angry upset birthers and others. I hope that's not the case, but it sure does say to you what David Brooks said the other day on T.V. which is that more credible conservatives have to stand up and say that there's a line that has to be drawn, that there's a line of responsibility that's important, and that extends to the words that we choose including how we choose even legitimate words like socialist." 'Socialist' is a code word? Socialist is becoming the new N-word? By what exercise in interpretive gymnastics or logic does Mr. Watson arrive at such a conclusion? From what he says, it is difficult to ascertain. He does, however make a valid point regarding the importance of being responsible in the words we chose to use in human discourse; perhaps we should begin with that. It might be helpful to examine some time tested rules governing the use and interpretation of the words which we use in human discourse. To that end, I offer the following from Johann August Ernesti, Elementary Principles of Interpretation

"To every word there ought to be assigned...some idea or notion of a thing, which we call the meaning or signification of the word."

"For there can be no certainty at all, in respect to the interpretation of any passage, unless a kind of necessity compels us to affix a particular sense to a word; which sense,...must be one; and unless there are special reasons for a tropical meaning, it must be a literal sense."

"The literal sense of words is the sense which is so connected with them that it is the first order, and is spontaneously presented to the mind as soon as the sound of the word is heard."

Mr. Watson admits that the word 'socialist' is a "legitimate" word. Since it is a legitimate word, it has a literal meaning, which meaning is the primary meaning, unless there is some special reason to interpret it figuratively. There is every reason to believe that the critics of Obama are in fact using the word 'socialist' literally. See here, and here. There is also the fact that conservatives have used the word 'socialist' to refer other Presidents and Presidential candidates (George McGovern, Jimmy Carter, and Clinton, both Mr. and Mrs.) Mr. Watson must have a special reason in this case to interpret the word 'socialist' in a figurative way. He does have such a reason. Because he wishes to do so.

The fact of the matter is that there are individuals who have a problem with race. Mr. Watson is a perfect example.

UPDATE: 08/12/09

Since making his incendiary comments on Monday, Mr. Watson has been receiving a good deal of backlash; so much so that he now feels that his comments are being misinterpreted or somehow taken out of context. On his The Stimulist site, Mr. Watson ineptly tried to defend his absurd assertion.

"I wondered—let me repeat that: wondered—whether “socialist” was being used as a code word for the N-word, an outlet for racist anxiety and anger."

"Over the last 24 hours, I’ve been accused both of trying to silence dissent and race bait. I am interested in neither. Various e-mailers have said they don’t think anyone has literally meant the N-word. Maybe they’re right. But maybe not; just take a look at the hundreds of comments on YouTube. Either way, responsible people need to not kid themselves: there is clearly some meaningful racial animus behind some of the opposition to President Obama. (Again, I said some—not all or a majority.) Pretending otherwise is hypocritical, negligent, and dangerous."

"Again, I am certainly not arguing that criticism is inappropriate, or that critiques using the word socialist are necessarily out of bounds. We’ve seen the word used before, against Hillary Clinton in 1994, LBJ three decades before and many others."

Why is it the these elitists, who like to think of themselves as the smartest people in the room, are unable (or unwilling) to make a well reasoned argument, even in their own defense. Mr. Watson freely admits that the word 'socialist' has been used in its literal sense many times of other politicians, yet still offers no real argument to support his even "wondering" if it is being used figuratively with respect to Obama.

Pelosi and Hoyer Call Concerned Citizens "Un-American"

In a USA TODAY op/ed piece published today, Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer echoed the sentiments of other Democrats that the angry citizens who are disrupting Democrat Town Hall Meetings are un-American. In the piece entitled, 'Un-American' attacks can't derail health care debate, Pelosi/Hoyer make the argument that these citizens are un-American by virtue of the fact that they are disrupting the meetings and thereby preventing a civil debate.

"........, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue. These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted "Just say no!" drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion."

As I pointed out in a previous post, the tactics which they decry now, are the very tactics which they have used in the past to effectively block legislation, change policy, and prevent a civil debate; (which they never, ever really want to have in the first place). What they really want is for the right in this country to shut-up. Oh, yeah! That is the American way, right?

But, we conservatives have always been in favor of civil and constructive discourse. We have always been in favor of having the debate. We have played nice and gotten nothing for it. And then, we played nice again. We have played nice until it was time to not play nice. That time is now.

If Pelosi/Hoyer think that Americans going to Town Hall Meetings and expressing passionately their opposition the the Health Care bill is un-American, what, pray tell, would they consider to be the American way to conduct public discourse? The way Democrats prefer to do it? At farcical Town Hall Meetings where the attendees are hand picked, the questions and answers scripted well in advance, where no dissenting voices are heard, where the public watching on TV see and hear only that which they want them to hear, and all of it at tremendous public expense? Is that what the Democrats consider to be the American way to engage in free political discourse?

If Americans should agree to that, then the Dems might as well pass out the chains and shackles, and we will put them on ourselves.

There is no limit to the level to which liberal hypocrisy will rise. As average Americans take the time to attend the scheduled town hall meetings of their elected representatives in order to raise, often very passionately, their concerns over the proposed Health Care bill; the left wing media, Congressional leaders, and the White House wasted no time in trying to demonize them as GOP plants, a mob, racists, swastika carrying Nazis, potential domestic terrorists, and un-American.

So what if the protests are organized! Organized dissent is something which the left has practiced for years, and at many of those events, the term 'mob' would certainly be appropriate. However, unlike what is typical of left wing activism, no cars have been overturned, no fires set, and riot police have not been needed.

Pelosi's comments where she describes seeing protesters "carrying swastikas" was so ridiculous that much of the MSM is ignoring the story, and here is a good reason why:

In answer to the un-American charge which is being leveled I think Hillary Clinton (gag) said it best;

Hypocrisy aside, the purpose of all of these charges is to direct attention from the complaints of the protesters, to the motives of the protesters. The left has been successful to this end, thanks to their willing accomplices in the press. But, there is a plan B.

On Aug. 4th, in the White House Blog, the WH announced the 'snitch' address where one may report so-called health care disinformation;

If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

Using a tactic familiar to every dictator throughout history, i.e., inhibiting free speech though the threat of being ratted out by ones neighbors, ol' Purple Lips has surpassed any perceived usurpation of civil rights perpetrated by the Bush Administration.

It seems that there is a disturbing trend in the Chrysler Dealer closure list. WND is reporting that of the dealers slated for closure who made political donations in the November 2008 elections, 90% gave substantial amounts of money to Republican candidates or GOP organizations.

When one examines the list of donating dealers on the chopping block, 56 made donations to the GOP, while only 7 made donations to Democrats. Wait, it gets even better! Of, those seven dealers who gave money to Democrats, five gave substantial amounts ($2,300 to $4,600) to Obama's Democratic rivals. There are only two dealers who gave donations to Obama, in amounts of $200 and $250.

It seems clear that in Il Douche Obama's America, you have to pay to play.

Liberty University Bans Democratic Party Club

Liberty University, the conservative christian institution founded by the late Jerry Falwell, has ordered it's campus Democratic party club to shut down. The group was notified by vice president of student affairs Mark Hine via email in which Hines said; "The Democratic Party platform is contrary to the mission of Liberty University and to Christian doctrine (supports abortion, federal funding of abortion, advocates repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, promotes the "LGBT" agenda, hate crimes, which include sexual orientation and gender identity, socialism, etc.)" He further stated that even though the campus group "may not support the more radical planks of the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party is still the parent organization of the club on campus."

Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. said of the decision;

"That club still has the right to exist," Falwell said, although it cannot use the university’s name in its activities.
"They still can meet on campus," in certain rooms, he said. "There is absolutely no animosity at all toward any of these kids."
"They are good, Christian kids who sit with me at ball games. I just hope they find a pro-life family organization to affiliate with so they can be endorsed by Liberty again."

As one might imagine, the reaction from Virgina Democrats was swift and vitriolic.

Governor Tim Kaine; “I urge the leadership of Liberty University to reverse this attack on the liberty of its students and allow the College Democrats to have the same rights on campus as their counterparts, the College Republicans.“

Creigh Deeds, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor; “Virginia is the home of free speech. Restricting free speech and discouraging students from participating in the political process are not what our colleges and universities should be about. I call on Liberty University to reverse their decision and reinstate the Liberty University Democratic Club.“

Mike Signer, a Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor; “The decision of the Liberty University administration to revoke the recognition of the students’ Democratic organization is deeply troubling. It is even more problematic that the school has decided to continue to recognize the campus Republicans. Together, we can fight this clear violation of the American tradition of the freedom of speech and political organization.”

Terry McAuliffe, a Democratic candidate for governor; "Liberty means freedom. To me it means freedom of speech. As most of you know, I'm a huge advocate of freedom of speech."

But where is the outrage from the Democratic party over this?

At Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio this last Saturday, four members of a campus evangelism group where arrested when another student complained about their presence on the campus. So where is the outrage from Democrats in Ohio over this violation of free speech? I have not been able to find any, which, of course, is not surprising.

To the Democrats, 'freedom of speech' refers to 'freedom of liberal politically correct speech', and no other. Democrats can declare our troops guilty of killing "innocent civilians in cold blood" before a trial even begins, but Republicans cannot accuse Democrats of being unpatriotic. Liberals can call Republicans racist for not supporting Obama, but conservatives cannot accuse Democrats of being socialists. And, in this case, a publicly funded institution can violate the free speech rights of a christian group, but a privately funded institution cannot violate the free speech rights of a Democrat group.

There is no doubt that Massachusetts is an bastion of liberal lunacy and unfortunately for the poor tax payers, they are always on the hook for the bill. Liberals have not learned a thing from the forty years of 'great society' failures. They continue to labor under the erroneous notion that providing the poor and lazy with every need and want will someday yield prosperous and industrious citizens. They never will.

The most ludicrous example of this type of lunacy is a program being administered by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (no, I am not making that up). This program provides cars to the poor, complete with car insurance, inspection, excise tax, title, registration, repairs and a AAA membership for one year. The DTA has been giving away about 65 cars per year since the program began in

Now if that isn't enough to peg out your outrage meter, the Boston Herald is reporting that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is planning to funnel up to $400,000 in additional funds into the program.

House Minority Leader Brad Jones (R-North Reading) said of the program, “I just don’t see this as a core function of government.” Now, there's the understatement of the year.

Now that Comrade Obama has completed his first 100 days in office many have been pointing out how bumbling and error prone the 'Messiah-in Chief' has been so far. The New York Post piece entitled 100 Days, 100 Mistakes was especially brutal.

So what has George W. Bush been doing in his first 100 days since leaving office? Why, he has raised $100 million in 100 days for the Bush Library. Now wait just a minute. How is this possible? They said that 'W' was the worst President in a hundred years. They said he was the most unpopular President in modern history. So how is it possible for the worst President in 100 years to raise $100 million in 100 days for a library dedicated to the most unpopular President in modern history during worst economy since the 'Great Depression'?

The defiance of logic presented by this proposition is certainly not lost on the 'Huffers' over at the Huffington Post. Amid the nasty spew which typifies the 'Huffers', are a few expressions of utter disbelief. Here are a few of the comments which were posted in the first few hours;

"Why do I not believe this story? Sources close to Bush told Time they had raised $100MM. The lies continue unabated."

In the aftermath of the attack on 9/11/2001, America was a nation united. If there is anything which sadden liberals about 9/11 is this single fact. For a short time, they were obliged to morn. It was a very short bereavement. It was not long before some of them began to lay the blame at our own feet. Efforts were made to force Americans still grieving to move on. Pressure was applied to the media to stop showing the images of the attack. Eventually there appeared the asinine conspiracy theories.

Fast forward to today. In the liberal mind today, 9/11 is ancient history. This is abundantly evident in the egregiously insensitive events of this week.

First, the White House authorized the Air Force One fly over of NYC for a photo op. The stunt caused wide spread panic and the evacuation of some buildings.

Can you envision the meeting in the Oval Office when they got the news of what happened. It probably went something like this;

Comrade Obama: "What happened."

Obama Minion: "We forgot about 9/11, Sir."

Comrade Obama: "9/11? Oh, yeah, that whole attack thing."

Rahm Emmanuel: "When are these #*&!@# going to get over that!"

Comrade Obama: "So what do we do now?"

Obama Minion: "Should we issue an apology, or something."

Rahm Emmanuel: "We need to distance ourselves from the incident. We'll say that we are going to launch an investigation into it!"

Comrade Obama: "Yeah, and we can say it will take a couple of month to complete."

Rahm Emmanuel: "Absolutely. By then these @#*&#! will have forgotten all about it."

Comrade Obama: "Ok, someone write me a speech and load it in the teleprompter. Oh, and have someone do it right, I am tired of being laughed at when it screws up."

Obama Minion: " Yes, Sir!"

FBI Gathered Information on Tea Party Protesters

Last week hundreds of thousands of Americans exercised their constitutional right to protest against the actions of the government and to demand redress of their grievances. It was too big an event for the media ignore, but media cameras were not the only cameras covering the events. According to the Northeast Intelligence Network (NEIN), a network comprised of veterans, licensed professional investigators, analysts, and military affairs specialists and researchers, the FBI had agents covertly filming and gathering information on the attendees.

"According to this unimpeachable source, a single-page confidential directive issued by the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC (FBIHQ) was sent to each of the 56 field offices located across the United States on or about March 23, 2009, instructing the Special Agents in Charge (SACs) of those offices to verify the date, time and location of each TEA Party within their region and supply that information to FBI headquarters in Washington. The source stated this correspondence termed the TEA parties “political demonstrations,” and added that the dissemination of the directive was very tightly controlled. “Not all agents were privy to this correspondence,” stated the source, who compared the dissemination to an older “Do Not File” classification."

"In addition to obtaining or confirming the location and time of each “demonstration,” each field office was instructed to obtain or confirm the identity of the individual(s) involved in the actual planning and coordination of the event in each specific region, and include the local or regional Internet web site address, if any. The information collected by region was then reportedly sent to FBI Headquarters."

"The source alleges that a second directive was issued on or about April 6, 2009 that reportedly instructed each SAC to coordinate and conduct, either at the field office level and/or with the appropriate resident agency, covert video surveillance and data collection of the participants of the TEA parties. Surveillance was to be performed from “discreet fixed or mobile positions” and was to be performed “independently and outside of the purview of local law enforcement.”

"Although the level of detail collected from each operation is unclear, the information was reportedly submitted to Washington, where, “at the level of the National Security Branch (NSB), this information was to “include the office of the Directorate of Intelligence (DI), and integrated with a restricted access database, one that reportedly is accessible to only two agencies” [of the 14 agencies that comprise the U.S. intelligence community, according to the source."

This "unimpeachable source" is an FBI agent who has provided information to the NEIN in the past, undoubtedly at great personal and professional risk. This agent reportedly told Doug Haggman, the NEIN director, that;

"The Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Assessment that is receiving so much attention is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the true patriotic citizens of this country are on the Titanic. This is what bothers me. But is goes far beyond that assessment. There have been very significant changes made over the last few years that redirect the focus and assets of the intelligence community internally. These changes have greatly accelerated under this administration, and the threats have been redefined to include those who used to be patriots. It’s not only chilling but absolutely insulting to God-fearing Americans.”

“The implications to the citizens of the U.S. are ominous. It seems that there is a hostile political agenda coming from Washington that characterizes the supporters of our constitutional freedoms as threats to our domestic security, which is totally absurd. The redirection, the refocusing of domestic threats from al Qaeda cells to ‘flag waving right-wingers’ is something that has gone from a murmur a few years ago to a roar today.”

If Washington is not threatened by the Tea Parties, why spy on the attendees? Why open files on the organizers? Why do a threat assessment. Publicly the American Left is mocking the protesters and pretending that the movement is completely irrelevant. For an irrelevant movement, it is sure attracting a lot of serious attention.

Global Governance! A Kook Theory No Longer.

Dick Morris has begun doing a video blog at youtube.com called Dick Morris Reports. In his second post, he addresses the fact that at the recent G-20 Summit, Comrade Obama has laid the ground work for handing over control of American businesses to an international Financial Stability Board, largely controlled by European central bankers, in which American will have only one vote.

Comrade Obama is in the process of handing over American sovereignty, at least as far as our financial institutions are concerned. And, there may be more to come.

In 2004, while running for the US Senate, Obama indicated that he believed that the United States should join the International Criminal Court (ICC) by ratifying the Rome Statute. He may be looking for an opportunity to do just that.

Then there is the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) which would create a massive UN buracracy to govern American waterways.

These are serious precursors toward the desire of many, i.e. 'global governance'. This is certainly the viewpoint of World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick. In regard to the G-20 Summit, Zoellick said;

"In London, Washington, and Paris people talk of bonuses or no bonuses. In parts of Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, the struggle is for food or no food. G-20 backing will help us gain more momentum, thereby increasing support. If leaders are serious about creating new global responsibilities or governance, let them start by modernising multilateralism to empower the WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank Group to monitor national policies."

Of course, many conservatives have known for some time that the real aim of the 'Climate Change' hysteria is to move the world toward Global Governance. See here and here.

This is no secret conspiracy, it is an Open Conspiracy very reminiscent of the book by H.G. Wells. All of these, so called crises, are being used to move the world toward global governance. If you think that the redistribution of wealth is repugnant on a national scale, wait until it is on a global one.

In an interesting aside, the Chinese word for "crisis" is formed by two ideograms Wei, which means "danger" and Ji, which means "opportunity."

In 1933, Adolf Hitler met with Ferdinand Porsche to discuss his ideas for a high mileage, low cost, vehicle which would be the 'people's car'. Hitler wanted to rebuild Germany into a vibrant nation where all could enjoy the conveniences of modern life and every citizen could own a car. Since, one in five Americans owned a car while only one in fifty Germans could afford one, this project was of great importance to Hitler. The 'people's car' which Hitler had envisioned we all recognize as the VW Beetle.

To facilitate the ability of the German people to afford these cars and to produce the capital needed to build the factory, Hitler came up with the idea of a repayment plan where German workers could put aside five reichmarks a week into an account held by the government. By the time the factory was operating, their car would be paid for. In addition, each of these savers would get two years of free auto insurance, gas, and maintenance as well!

In all, 350,000 Germans participated in this program and saved an estimated $67 million toward the purchase of a new "Volksauto". None of them ever received a single car.

It was not till after the end of WWII that the British placed Heinrich Nordhoff, the former head of the Opel Car Company in charge of Volkswagen. Using the original designs blueprints, Nordhoff was very successful, and by 1948 there were 20,000 VW's on the roads of postwar Europe.

Fast forward to 2009.

It could allow people to travel around cities more quickly, safely, quietly and cleanly - and at a lower total cost. The vehicle also enables design creativity, fashion, fun and social networking."

Top speed of this industry saving POS? A whopping 35 mph!

Ok, stop rolling on the floor laughing your 'you know what' off! This is serious stuff they are doing over at GM. I mean, they got MBA's and MEng's working on this thing with our tax dollars. This has to be answer to GM's viability, right!

Besides, once the socialists have succeeded in cementing themselves in power, this could very well be your new 'party approved' vehicle. So get used to it!

Obama Says, "Jump"

The Democrats, who have not yet stopped campaigning against George W. Bush, loved to characterize his administration, as well as the leadership of the Republican controlled Congress, as weighing too heavily on the side of corporate welfare. Yet the so called 'corporate welfare' doled out under the Republicans is far overshadowed by the massive corporate bailouts which the Democrats have approved.

Hypocritical? Certainly! But it's much more than that. The devil, as they say, is in the details. Under the Republicans, 'corporate welfare', more often than not, took the form of tax breaks. Where is the advantage in that? Democrats much prefer to tax the crap out of corporations, and then, offer the money back to them with stings attached. This current economic downturn has presented the Democrats with the opportunity to do just that; ad nauseum.

The latest example of this totalitarian practice has been reported by Mike Allen at Politico. Having already received $18 billion in bailout money, GM finds itself in a position of having to asking for more. Operating much like organizations which have been prosecuted under RICO statutes, Comrade Obama has given GM CEO Rick Wagoner an offer which he couldn't refuse.

Wagoner's departure is one of the remarkable strings attached to a new aid package the administration plans to offer GM.

The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government's behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

On Monday, President Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler.

Industry sources had said the White House planned very tough medicine, which turned out to be an understatement. And it went to the very top. The measures to be imposed by the government will have a dramatic effect on workers, unions, suppliers, retirees and the communities where plants are located, the sources said.

Government money always comes with government strings attached. Between the confiscatory taxes and the totalitarian strings attached to government assistance, there has never been a better reason for Atlas to shrug.

The Disapproval of Comrade Obama is Growing

If one goes is a frequent visitor to the Real Clear Politics website, one might wonder how it is that Obama is maintaining a sizeable approval rating even while there is so much public outcry against all that he is doing. There have been hundreds of 'tea party' protests all across the country, and more being planned all the time. Yet, Obama's approval numbers remain above 50%.

Contrary to the impression which one might gather from the lack of media coverage of the 'tea parties', they are not going to be a short lived occurrence, nor are the grievances of the attendees trivial. They accuse Obama and the Democratically controlled Congress of;

- voting for a $750 billion spending bill without even reading it.
- spending trillions of borrowed dollars, which is rapidly debauching our currency, will lead to run away inflation, and leave a debt (est. $12.5 trillion by 2019) that our grand-children will be shackled with.
- consistently giving special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected?

- wanting to take the wealth from those who have earned it and redistribute it to those who did not.
- punishing those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not?
- using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda?
- running up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China?
- wanting to establish government-controlled health care which is debilitatingly expensive and has been a colossal failure everywhere it has been tried.
- wanting to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections.
- refusing to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country and adequately defend our borders.
- appointing a defender of child pornography to the No. 2 position in the Justice Dept.

Not surprisingly, the main stream media is not showing the big picture. While it is true that Comrade Obama's approval numbers, though they are dropping, still remain high, his negatives are rising rapidly. The number of people who disapprove of the job that Obama is doing has risen from 30% on Inauguration Day, to 43% today.

At Rasmussen Reports both the approval numbers and the disapproval numbers are taken into consideration to arrive at an approval index figure. It is calculated by subtracting the percentage of those strongly disapprove from those who strongly approve. The tracking of the index numbers show that Obama's Approval Index has declined from +28 on Inauguration Day, to just +4 today. At this rate of decline, Obama's Approval Index will likely be in the negative before April 30th; Comrade Obama's 100th day in office.

Dodd Amendment Mystery Solved

The Dodd Amendment in the 'Porkulus bill', which included a date based exemption that allowed AIG to honor it's contractual agreements to pay it's employees $165 million in bonuses, was included, supposedly, to ensure that the previsions were constitutional. Now it seems that there may have been more to it than that.

Senator Dodd said this about the date based exemption;

"I did not want to make any changes to my original Senate-passed amendment but I did so at the request of Administration officials, who gave us no indication that this was in any way related to AIG."

The White House is insisting that there were no specific changes or language suggested by anyone at Treasury. As usual, there is a lot of finger pointing back and forth. It seems now, however, that both Obama and Dodd may have had good reasons for making the date based exceptions.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Dodd has recieved $280,000 worth of campaign contributions from AIG since 1990. Comrade Obama has recieved over $100,000, according to Open Secrets.org.

Last night Brit Hume was honored by the Media Research Center with the William F. Buckley Jr. Award for Media Excellence. He is only the third recipient of this prestigious award. The late Tony Snow was the recipient of the 2008 WFB Award. The first recipient was, of course, the host of the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, Rush Limbaugh in 2007. The award was presented by MRC President Brent Bozell.

Obama Mask Banned by School Officials

Portlands Llewellyn Elementary School Principal Steve Powell Banned an 11yr old fifth grader from wearing an Obama mask in an elementary school talent show. The student, Dru Lechert-Kelly is an admirer of Comrade Obama and practiced for weeks dancing to a popular YouTube song that features an Obama look-alike dancing to a parody called "I Can Do Whatever I Like."

Following a rehearsal for the annual talent show, teachers expressed their concerns that the mask might be inappropriate and potentially offensive even though the mask was similar to one which Comrade Obama himself wore in a "Saturday Night Live" skit.

Local school says no to Obama act

When asked by the Oregonian to explain what was offensive about Dru's skit, Principle Powell gave this arguably childish response;

"I won't say why it's inappropriate," he said. "I'm not saying anything to The Oregonian. Why? Because I don't want to."

One can just imagine him sticking his thumbs in his ears with fingers spread outward, sticking out his tongue, and saying, "Mmnnaaahh, ... so there!"

One has to wonder if Dru had decided to perform the skit as Jesus wearing an Obama mask would have been acceptable.

Andrea Mitchell Courageously Caves

In an interview today with Rep. Barney Frank, Andrea Mitchell accepted the blame, evidently on behalf of the media at large, for holding up Comrade Obama's cabinet appointments.

Many of George Bush's appointees waited the better part of eight long years for Senate confirmations which never came. Can you imagine any reporter, on any station, including Fox news caving to similar charges leveled by a Republican? It would not have happened!

We're Moving Back To Uncle Sam's Plantation

Six years ago, I wrote a book called "Uncle Sam's Plantation." I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.

I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas. A poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.

I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training(JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing and Food Stamps.

A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of poverty. A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?"

Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems -- the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others. The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools and broken black families.

Through God's grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is.

I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996, passed by a Republican Congress and signed into law by a Democrat president. A few years after enactment, welfare roles were down 50 percent. I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth-producing American capitalism. But, incredibly, we are going in the opposite direction.

Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh."
Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short-term economic stimulus.

"This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a strategy for America's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, health care and education."

Perhaps more incredibly, Mr. Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea. Or that massive growth in government can take place "with unprecedented transparency and accountability."

Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation and the Department of Education.

Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 -- The War on Poverty -- which, President Johnson said, "... does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty."

Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same. But black families are not, with triple the incidence of single-parent homes and out of wedlock births.

It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom.

Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?

Michael Steele Calls Limbaugh Show 'Incendiary' and 'Ugly'

When I first heard that Michael Steele would be leading the RNC as it's Chairman, I had high hopes. Those hopes have been diminished of late. Mr. Steele admits that the Republican Party has not been true to conservative principles and that the party needs to return to it's roots. He has articulately expressed his view that the party has lost the trust of it's conservative base in recent years. However, in a couple of media interviews I have seen, Steele seems to be clueless about how he plans to regain that trust. Michael Steele's lack of a comprehensive plan to return the Republican Party to basic conservative values and principles is very troubling.

Now there is this interview on CNN's DL Hughley Breaks the News from Saturday.

So, instead of getting back to basics, Mr. Steele has apparently chosen to criticize those who never left them. What was he thinking? To whom was he trying to curry favor with these remarks? The only thing which these remarks accomplished was to provide fodder to the White House and the Huffington Post. If Mr. Steele is firmly committed to the cause of conservatism, then I would think that he would consider Rush Limbaugh a valuable ally in the fight against Liberalism. He clearly does not.

Mr. Steele offered an explanation of these remarks which where nothing less than 'craptacular';

“I went back at that tape and I realized words that I said weren’t what I was thinking,” Steele said. "It was one of those things where I thinking I was saying one thing, and it came out differently. What I was trying to say was a lot of people … want to make Rush the scapegoat, the bogeyman, and he’s not."

Rush Limbaugh responded to Steele's remarks on his radio show.

Mr. Steele needs come to grips with a few realities. First, neo-conservatism has proven to be a loser for the Republican Party and needs to be wholly abandoned. Second, if the Republican Party wants to ever again be in a position to set the national agenda, they are going to have to truly embrace core conservative principles and values and boldly, poignantly, and authoritatively articulate them. And, third, if the Republican Party fails to regain the trust of America's conservatives, they have an alternative. There is a party which has consistently remained faithful the conservative values and principles for many years, the Libertarian Party. This is an alternative which I am seriously considering.

Does Obama Know Any Honest People?

On Feb. 19, Comrade Obama created by executive order yet another new executive office, the White House Office of Urban Affairs, and named Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. as the 'Urban Czar'. The new Czar will be tasked to guide, coordinate and oversee funding of all urban affairs policies and programs. As Bronx Borough President, Adolfo Carrion is no stranger to these duties, and the kickbacks that come with them.

New York Daily News reports that Adolfo Carrion has a long history of taking money from Bronx developers.

"The man who is President Obama's newly minted urban czar pocketed thousands of dollars in campaign cash from city developers whose projects he approved or funded with taxpayers' money, a Daily News probe found.

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion often received contributions just before or after he sponsored money for projects or approved important zoning changes, records show."

It is not known at this date whether or not Mr. Carrion has ever cheated on his taxes.

You Can't Teach an Old Dog.....

As the newly elected governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich signed an executive order in 2003 requiring all state employees undergo ethics training. This included the governor himself, and he passed. See the story here. Each employee is required to take and pass the training each year. Rod Blagojevich has passed the course each year for the passed five years.

The problem is that the training amounts to 30 to 60 minutes worth of a Computer Based Learning (CBL) session. Many corporations, especially those in retail, use similar systems to train their employees on a variety of subjects, including ethics. As long as one is attentive during the training phase, passing the self examination portion of a CBL is fairly easy. When it comes to situational ethics, most individuals know what the right thing to do is, regardless of whether they would actually do it. This is the classic definition of sin.

"Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." James 4:17 (NASV)

This type of training is no guarantee of the ethical actions of another, nor is it effective in instilling ethics and morals in a person who is not already in possession of them. However, it is effective at identifying those individuals who are unable to discern right from wrong.

The fact that Gov. Blagojevich passed the ethics training program says nothing about his ethical foundation. The old adage is true, that 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks'. It is clear that Blagojevich learned nothing from the ethics training. Having been caught doing the wrong thing, the right thing for him to do now is resign. Blagojevich waved yesterday as that opportunity passed by.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Should Resign

Since being identifies as Senate Candidate #5, Jesse Jackson Jr. has adamantly denied any involvement in the Blago Scandal. Many Chicago residence are unconvinced. Breaking News reports;

At least some of his constituents want embattled Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. to resign.

About a dozen protesters stood outside his Chicago office today shouting, "Ho ho ho, Jesse Jr.'s gotta go."

Protest organizer Harold Davis says he believes allegations that an emissary may have offered to raise money for Gov. Rod Blagojevich in exchange for Jackson being appointed to President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat.

Davis says Jackson has tainted the democratic process and his political career is over.

Others in the south side neighborhood disagree. Several passersby shouted support for Jackson and one yelled, "Leave Jesse alone."

Jackson denies any wrongdoing.

An emissary, acting on Jackson's behalf, offered Rod Blagojevich $1 million to appoint Jackson as Obama's Senate replacement. The standard politicians denial of having any knowledge of the activities of individuals acting on their behalf is one which has been looked upon with great suspicion since Watergate. Yet the concept of plausible deniability is always a factor in whether a politician can withstand the public scrutiny and survive. Barring any federal indictments against Jackson, he will most likely weather this storm.

While there may be some who are calling for Jackson to resign, others will try to calm the clamour by appealing to our sense of justice, i.e., that a man is innocent until proven guilty.
Still others will come to Jackson's defence in a more enthusiastic fashion. Perhaps Chis Crocker will even produce another video on youtube crying, "Leave Jesse alone!"

U.S. Senate Seat for Sale

I would not have believed that any Governor, Republican or Democrat, could be this stupid, this arrogant, and this corrupt. Unbelievable! Are Bloggers Lobbyists?

Now that the Democrats are in power, one of the things on their priority list is, how to keep it. Those of us who are keeping a watchful eye on our government are aware that the Democrats are strongly motivated to regulate conservative talk radio out of existence. I have been wondering when they might try to silence the blogosphere and what form that attack might take. I did not have to wait long.

The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission is currently examining the concept of defining and regulating bloggers as lobbyists. If you blog about a legislative session, urge readers to Email legislators to support or oppose a specific bill or rule, actively oppose or campaign for specific candidates, you may be engaging in reportable activities. Among the questions currently being discussed;

Lobbying Emails
-Are expenditures related to lobbying emails to legislators concerning possible legislation, or lobbying emails to state agencies concerning possible rules, reportable?
-Are expenditures related to grassroots lobbying directed to the public via email reportable?

Lobbying Websites
-Are websites established to provide lobbying information, and to encourage others to lobby for or against a particular bill or rule engaged in a reportable activity?
-Is staff time and other expenditures for lobbying websites (creation, maintenance, etc.) reportable? If so, what else is reportable?

Lobbying Blogs (Web logs)
-Are lobbying postings and responses on blogs reportable?
-Are funds provided to "tip jars" (donation links) on lobbying blogs reportable?

"State officials are downplaying any possible media rights conflict, pointing out that regulators have already exempted journalistic blogging from previous guidelines for online campaign activity."

With one hand they pat themselves on the back for protecting the freedom of the press clause of the First Amendment, while violating the free speech clause with the other. Typical.
